Do you have to? No, but it would be nice to send a reply saying, "thanks for the info."

I don't think a formal reply is necessary, but a sincere *thanks for everything* is a nice thing to do any different time he does it. 5 different thank you's for a cluster of 5 different emails is a bit much. Once you have all the answers to the questions you asked, then thank your coach.

My opinion is that if the email is asking about something you should already know, e.g. you lost the list of practice times again, then you should thank AND apologize for your mistake each time. Otherwise, since you may have questions during "tennis season" from time to time, always end your email with "thanks in advance", and don't clutter his email inbox with informationless "thank yous."

I always thank someone for providing me with requested information. It doesn't need to be long or formal, just say thanks! It's just courtesy.

Besides, you may just stick out in his mind after you thank him. Maybe show some enthusiasm for tryouts...Coaches eat that stuff up!

well i think you should include a thank you in the first email because they are taking their time to read it. i usually find that that is enough. just say thank you at the end of the first one and you should be good.

Thank You is never weird and always welcome. Simply send a brief email saying thanks coach for the information I will see you there. This way your coach knows that you did in fact get the information that he/she sent.

If for no other reason than to confirm that you actually received the information I would.
