I just quit my housekeeping job at a hotel where I was getting paid next to nothing and cleaning 20+ suites a day in 95 degree weather. I am sick of working so hard (as in, manual labor). I am not lazy, but I am going back to school this fall and need some time to study. There are plenty of job opportunities in this city, such as newspaper delivery, pet bather, small retail stores, phone reps, and I was wondering which sort of part time jobs would be a good idea. I have 7 years customer service experience, mostly in restaurants, and I have mostly done bartending, cooking, and cleaning.

How about delivery? My sister worked her way through school delivering flowers.

Also, and this is a wild shot, what about flight attendant? I know of several FAs that went to school while working. And, you get travel benefits. I'm just not sure who's hiring.

If he's happy in his job he should stay, he could do rigorous traing and end up in a job he totally hates. I don't think money should be the biggest issue. Job satisfaction and really liking it is more important. I took a £30 a week paycut to change my job and I love it.

Have you ever thought about selling Mary Kay Cosmetics? You make your own hours, you are your own boss and you don't need to wear makeup to sell it - you just need to know the products. It costs $100 to purchase the start-up kit. It will contain lots of products for demonstrations, classes and sampling (more than $100 worth) and a product information book. I am a consultant and LOVE the freedom it gives me. I also take classes at a local tech college, so this is perfect for me. Let me know if you are interested!

Most of those jobs are low wage so pick the ones you would enjoy- you can get good tips in a high end restaurant if you have experience and people skills- but that can be stressful too.

If you're on financial aid, I would check on-campus. They'll easily work around your schedule.

If that's not an option, then working as a phone rep or in retail is going to be your best bet, primarily because they will look good on a resume and get you experience you'll WANT to put on a resume!

All jobs have their stresses. I think the thing to check out what you really don't want to do and avoid that. Think also about what you enjoyed doing and consider going in that direction.
