For Father's day we gave him fruit and nuts, and he got shirts and ties from other family members. He is an Antiques collector and extremely considerate and kind.

How about fixing him a gift basket with odds and ends that he likes. Little food stuff, a gift card to a Christian book store, a magazine subscription, a gift card for a favorite restuarant, a little scrap book with favorite photos and handwritten memories of each photo..............
Sometimes it's the small things in life that are the most appreciated.

Hi. As an antiques dealer, when it comes to my family, I usually buy a practical gift and then find them something they collect. i.e. bought my sister a coach bag, she also collects pink depression glass so I found her a few plates and a biscuit jar which she still proudly displays and talks about. She knows I went out of my way to find her those items, I think I saw her wear the bag twice! The additional to a collection is always the most thoughtful and remembered gift - they will keep it and think of you forever, everything else wears out. Find out what he collects and find him a new addition to his collection, if he has a wide array of antiques find something in common, a style, an era, etc. and get him something along those lines. Hope I've helped a bit.

PS Personally I feel, gift cards and cash are the two most unthoughtful gifts in the world. You may receive a gift card from a store you like, but to me, it still means the person doesn't know you well enough or didn't want to spend the time finding something you would like. I have a personal collection of Pez and I would rather receive a $1. pez from a friend than anything else.

Gift certificate to his favorite antique shop or to Ebay where he can shop for antiques online. I think giving people a way to enjoy their favorite hobby is always better than more fruit and nuts. And really who needs more shirts and ties.

Baptist Minister's are men too. Just about anything that's not off color. He may like a page from the copy from the first King James Bible, it's very different from what we read now. Some of the j's are printed as f's and u's printed as v's and you'll find a lot of words like book spelled booke.

A gift card to a religious bookstore might be appropriate if he buys his own material. Another option would be a subscription to the Antiques & Collectible magazine.

if you can find a religious book store in your city, they may have an assortment of really nice, understated tie clips. there are many symbols that indicate Christianity, and one of those might be perfect. and it would go with all the other shirts and ties he already has.
