I have heard on the news that sooner or later, we all will be required to donate our organs when we die. As before we had the choice to do this.
Do you agree with this or disagree?

What you heard was incorrect. In the UK the chief medical officer proposed that there should be an opt out rather than an opt in for organ donation. The government rejected this proposal.

I personally think it would be a good idea. There are lots of people living terrible lives waiting for a new kidney, and lots of organs going to waste either because of ignorance or cultural beliefs.

I have taken part in organ harvest operations on those unlucky enough to be diagnosed with brain death. One of the few comforts that the relatives of the person have is that there organs will help others.

You can place your name on an organ donation register if you think this is a good idea.

Absolutely agree. How selfish do you have to be to deny someone else the chance to stay alive, because the idea "creeps you out" a little.

Why do people need the choice? You're dead. You're body will be burned or buried and left to rot. Either way, your organs go away eventually. Why not let them save someone's life. This is SUCH a big deal, imagine if someone you loved died because there were no organs available. It happens every day. And yet so many people think the notion of ownership/control over your dead body (which is useless in every other way, and when you're too dead to own anything in any meaningful sense) is more important. I don't understand it.

I am in total agreence with this messure as what do you need these usefull organs for when your being cremated? Oh and did I say cremated? Yes, soon we will all have to be cremated b/c we are fast running out of land for full size burial plots. What is there to think about with organ donation, when you get to the point of donation your body or brain is legally dead by medical terms, you have no feeling of pain, no thought processes, basically you are nothing more then an empty shell with some very usefull organs, allow somebody else to benefit from them become an organ donor today, it's simple and easy and above all it's FREE and can save a life. Who knows maybe that life you save could be a loved one.

I think we should all have to donate our organs unless you have a very good reason for not wanting to ie. religion etc.
My friend died before an organ was found for her, so I feel very strongly about this. My family all know that I want to donate my organs after I die, I carrya donor card, and I also donate blood and I'm on the bone marrow register.
I want to help people as much as I can and hope that other people feel the same way.

Donate them, we must get an opt out system sooner rather than later, it makes sense

When your dead your bits inside you are no good to you, so donate and let someone else live,

not sure, it seems kinda silly that someone should die when there are perfectly good organs burning or being buried but at the same time choice is always a good thing. im gonna donate anyway so it wont bother me...

I agree with this as I already carry a donor card. It would also save any pressure on the relatives at a very difficult time.

I think things should be reversed. It should be that we are all donars and if you wanted to opt out then carry a card. It will stop all people having to make a decision if a love one dies.

Agree if I my relatives are assured that my organs are 'donated' not 'traded'.
Organ trade won't affect a dead me, but will exploit the needy.

You won't be "required" to donate your organs. It will be assumed that unless you specifically opt out, you are willing to donate your organs after death. Anyone who has problems with this is welcome to opt out.
Some European countries have such a system. Why would you want to bury, burn or pickle your organs after your death when they could save someone's life?
