As far as I know, the main difference is that Christians believe that Christ is coming back down and Jews do not. Is that true? There still has to be more differences than that though.

side from the obvious ones that we deny Jesus is the Messiah and we only follow the Tanach (what Christians call the Old Testament)

Christianity is totally divorced from Judaism theologically
1) The belief that God would physically manifest to produce a child is the opposite of Jewish belief
2) The belief that God is made up of different beings is the opposite of Jewish belief in the single, undivided nature of God.
3) The belief that any being could set itself up in opposition to God (i.e. the devil) is the opposite of Jewish belief in which God is the sole and only authority and author of events in the world
4) The idea of eternal damnation for people who err (Hell), is the opposite of Jewish belief in which God is loving and always forgives.
5) The idea that God would ever cancel his convenant, after explicitly stating it was eternal, and thus turning God into a liar, is the opposite of Jewish belief
6) The idea that God could ever make a mistake (i.e. that the law he gave was too difficult to follow and was thus replaced with the sacrifice of his "son") is the opposite of the Jewish belief that God is perfect and never makes mistakes.
7) The idea that God can make mistakes is also the opposite of the Jewish belief that God is eternal and across all of time (God is, God was, God will be) and thus knows rthe consequences of every action and can tus never makes mistakes or not know the result sof something he does.

And just for completion, why we reject Jesus as the Messiah:
1) The dead were not resurrected
2) The Jews did not beome priests to the other nations
3) There is no world peace
4) The temple is not standing
5) There is no temple service
6) There is no parah adumah or its ashes to render us tahor
7) The messiah is from the House of David. your house/tribe is inherited from your father. Your father is your BIOLOGICAL father- there is no adoption in Judaisim to another father- if God is the father of Jesus- then Jesus cannot be from the House of David as God is not frm the House of David.
8) Human sacrifice is completely forbidden in Judaism- remeber God stopping the sacrifice of Isaac? The idea of a human being sacrificed is the opposite of anything from Judaism!
9) You have to atone for yourself! An essential part of the atonement process is being repentant. Someone cannot be repentant for you- you have to do it for yourself. ONly communal sins can be forgiven communally- not individual, private sins!

And no- the messiah does NOT proclaim himself- he will be recognised by his deeds- not by his claims- in other words, through doing the above he will be recognised as the messiah. On top of that- mashiach is a HUMAN being, with HUMAN parents- the idea of an anthropomorphised God going around and impregnating young woman is completely alien to Judaism- though it fits very nicely into the pagan religions of the time which had their heroes being fathered by gods (ala Hercules and his daddy Zeus)

Christianity came from Judaism. Jesus Christ was a poor Jewish Carpenter.

Unlike Christianity and Islam, Judaism has no official creed or universal doctrinal requirements for membership. In general, a person can be considered "Jewish" whether he adheres to a complete system of beliefs about God and the afterlife, holds only a few simple beliefs that give meaning to ritual, or even (at least in liberal Judaism) does not believe in God at all.

Jews are still waiting for the 'messiah'. He will unite the world into one global village and teach love and unite everyone.(I like this idea already!).

EDIT 1: I agree what 'Coralsnayk' in his third paragraph mentions about Jewish faith. Proselytizing is not a part of Jewish faith(I like that in any idea, community, religion or organization).

If you ever suggest to a Jew that Judaism is Christianity minus the New Testament, get ready for a heated debate.

It's not that simple and it just ain't so. The idea of a Trinity is against the doctrine of Monotheism, from the Jewish (And Muslim) perspective.

Jews do not proselytize. They do not try to get others "saved" or to become Jewish. If one wishes to convert, a Rabbi traditionally attempts three times to convince the person not to convert to Judaism. If the person persists, then he will begin receiving the teachings from Torah, etc. The idea is that, according to them, one does not have to be a Jew to be righteous in the sight of God. One need only obey the Law.

JUDAISM/ISLAM - says that no human can ever die for the sins of others CHRISTIANITY - says that Jesus died for the sins of mankind JUDAISM/ISLAM - says that all humans are born pure, and innocent CHRISTIANITY - some say that all humans are born with 'original sin'. JUDAISM - says that G-d would never allow/enable a 'virgin birth' CHRISTIANITY/ISLAM - says that Mary gave birth, though a virgin JUDAISM - says that no man gets a 'second coming' CHRISTIANITY/ISLAM - says that Jesus will have a 'second coming' JUDAISM/ISLAM - says that every human should speak directly to G-d CHRISTIANITY - Jesus claims in the 'new testament' that the 'only way' to G-d is via him JUDAISM/ISLAM - says G-d is one, indivisible, cannot be separated into three aspects/incarnations CHRISTIANITY - some sects speaks of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit JUDAISM - says that we are ALL equally G-d's children CHRISTIANITY - says that Jesus was 'god's son' above all others ISLAM - some Muslims claim that the prophets are perfect and have never sinned, others believe the prophets sinned and repented JUDAISM - has no concept of 'hell' CHRISTIANITY - *some* Christians believe non-believers go to 'hell' ISLAM - most Jews and Christians and all non-Jews/non-Christians go to hell though some state that only Allah knows who will end up in hell JUDAISM - has no 'devil', the Jewish 'Satan' is just an ordinary angel, under G-d's control CHRISTIANITY - describes 'Satan' as a devil and 'fallen' angel ISLAM - Satan was a jinn created from fire JUDAISM - the 'messiah' will be a normal, mortal man who must fulfill all the Jewish messianic prophecies in one normal, mortal lifetime CHRISTIANITY - Jesus was the 'messiah' and will fulfill the prophecies when he 'returns' ISLAM - believes Jesus was a prophet, not a “son of G-d”. Mohammad is the last prophet JUDAISM - says that the righteous of ALL faiths will reach 'gan eden' or 'garden of eden'. CHRISTIANITY - some Christians insist that only those who 'know Christ' can reach heaven ISLAM - some Jews and Christians will reach Paradise, Muslims reach paradise and have it better than Jews and Christians. Many Muslims believe that G-d judges all equally. JUDAISM - forbids Jews from trying to convert anyone to Judaism CHRISTIANITY - believes in actively 'witnessing' and encouraging people to convert to Christianity ISLAM - all must convert to Islam or pay a fine to remain Christian or Jewish and live as 2nd class citizens (all others must convert or die) JUDAISM - The Torah remains unchanged CHRISTIANITY - differences from the original Torah ISLAM - claims the Torah and Christian bible were corrupted (with no proof) JUDAISM/ISLAM - no concept of original sin CHRISTIANITY - some sects of Christianity believe in “original sin” to justify the need for a savior. Others believe that humankind cannot keep from sinning and requires a savior to cleanse them. Thanks Paperback for the majority of this with some tweaking by Qua Patet Orbis and Myself.

Current day Jewism is a lot like a culture now a days, while Christianity is a faith within yourself. Christians believe that Christ was the Messiah, while Jewish people still await their Messiah.

Well, those of the Jewish faith also only use the old testament as known by Christianity, and usually read the documents in their original languages (Hebrew or Arameic). In addition, they have to eat kosher foods, have to be circumcized, do not believe in Hell, do not require baptism, and are adhering to the older of the two religions.

Even more basic than that....
Christianity: Jesus Christ was the Messiah prophesied in the old testament

Jewish: Jesus Christ is merely a prophet, but he is not the Messiah. They are still waiting for Him.
