How can I remove a partially installed program? I tried to install PC Registry Cleaner, but it seems to have failed. Now I get a 'Fatal Error during Installation - 1722' message, and I can neither uninstall it or re-install it! Help, please!

Many thanks for all your suggestions - none of which worked, regrettably!! I didn't give enough info, I think. However, I discovered (from The Windows Adviser) a program called Add/Remove 4 Good, which did the trick. try it, when all else fails!

We Really need more information, what program are you trying to uninstall? Are you running windows? Have you tried to uninstall in safe mode? Some programs have a scrubber program that will try to completely uninstall. You may need to disable your firewall and antivirus, then try to install, then try to uninstall. Also there is a program called cccleaner that tries to uninstall difficult programs but there is no guarantee. Give us more info so that we may be able to help more.

Firstly I would try a system restore to a known day and time that the computer was working fine before you tried to install the program. This usually sorts out this type of problem.

Go to Control Panel, select add or remove program, you will see a list off major programs in your system, select the program and click change/remove. The program will prompt you with confirmation to remove the program. Answer in the affirmative and removal process will commence. The system may ask you to restart the system to make the removal parmanent.

Go to http://ccleaner.com and download their ccleaner program. It is free, and includes a registry cleaner.

Install and run CCleaner, and it will remove any registry enetries and system files. Once done, you can delete the dorectory in which PC Reg Cleaner tried to install.

This might work:

Right-click on start and select explore and go to the program files folder. If you know exactly what this program is called then you can find its folder in program files. Once you have found it, just delete it.

I know it sounds stupid and simple, but i have managed to get rid of viruses this way which couldn't be disposed of by Panda anti virus. You may be surprised
