Tell your doctor you don't think he's helping you and ask if he can refer you to another psychiatrist.
If he's reasonably professional doctor, he should be able to do that.
If that doesn't work, start looking up psychatrists in the phone book, or ask people you know.

Just because none the meds tried thus far have worked is no reason to find another psychiatrist, who will likely want to try all the meds you've tried. Sometimes it just takes time to find the right med, I am sure your doctor is just as frustrated as you are with the meds not working. Are you also getting some mental health counselling? Because meds are only half the answer, if you don't get counselling and deal with your issues, you aren't going to get better. Let me suggest a website to you that may be of some help...

You have to keep switching your medication until you find the right ones. It takes time and effort. I have schizophrenia and major depression. I take Abilify, Zoloft and Wellbutrin and today I live a normal happy life. Don't give up. Change doctors and medications. I'm on Social Security Disability now, but plan on getting a job and discontinuing my benefits. I can't go for a high stress job either, but am looking forward to working again. Good Luck to you!

Flip your insurance card to the back. Call the number listed under "behavioral health/substance abuse servcies". Get the names of 3 to 5 providers. Start making calls. Stick with your current provider until you can get an appointment with a new one.
Best of luck,

I would definitely look for a new doc. Continue seeing this one until you have a new one. After 3 years you should be feeling slightly better. But what concerned me was the fact that you said your doc was not listening to you - that's what they get paid for. Good luck

Sometimes, you want something so bad ie: a career, that you put too much stress on yourself to make it happen that you fail at it. Put less pressure on yourself. Relax. You can do anything you put your mind to if you only let things flow naturally. If you need to talk, email me anytime:
