The mouthwash is causing the swelling but once your done with the rinse you should be alright. Try ice to cool the inflamed area. I have mine pierced and it took about a week to heal.

Take the stud out and let the wound heal without a foreign object in it...

Seriously, the fast way to get an infected piercing is to get a piercing. I really don't understand why anyone would want to punch more holes in their body...It draws the observer's eye away from who you ARE and toward who you LOOK like.

plain ice. any food can become stuck in the piercing and cause it to become infected. You might also call a doctor and have him/her take a look to make sure it isn't already infected.

Drink lots of orange juice. eat chips with extra "hot" salsa.

The chemicals in these will eventually desensitize the nerve.
