Believe it or not but you can measure whether or not your drinking enough water by your urine. If you are constantly urinating clear water its telling you that your body has no more vitamins and minerals to dispose of and letting go of just the excess water. How ever a really concentrated yellow urine means you could use some watter because its forcing lots of vitamins and minerals out through very little water. Basically a urine with a slight discoloration is ideal.

Initially, it is important to drink around 2 litres of water each day as this will have a beneficial effect upon the body. However, in some conditions through excessive exercise and through radical changes in temperature usually caused by hot weather then your body needs more water. However, excessive amounts of water can lead to some problems especially around sodium levels. There have been cases where people who drink too much water have died but this is very very rare. Most people have the opposite problem in that they do not consume enough water each day. If you are drinking too much water and this is due to a unquenchable thirst then I suggest that you may need to get medically checked out as this can be a symptom of some medical conditions such as diabetes.

How much water are you drinking exactly? Yes there is such a thing as drinking too much water. Drinking too much water can lead to a condition known as water intoxication and to a related problem resulting from the dilution of sodium in the body, hyponatremia. However it is difficult for an adult to drink enough water to have this condition

I'm not an expert on the topic, but I do know that drinking lots of water will reduce vitamins and minerals carried in your blood. I also drink lots of water and will be watching for other posts. You will lose vitamin B, vitamin C, potasium, sodium, and others. Given restaurant food and snack food in this country, if you are like many people, you have too much sodium (salt) in your diet, so losing salt is most likely good. Drinking lots of water should lower your blood pressure if you don't eat too much salt.
I understand that you can replace most of these by taking supplements.

You can bet it is bad for you.
I recently tried so-called water therapy of drinking at least 6 cups of water first thing in the morning and nothing else for the next 2 hours. I would start to chill and had to go back to bed to cover up to warm up. I also had difficulty breathing. I know that when you chill, that drops your immune system drastically and exposes you to all sorts of health problems.
So after 3 days, I said 'Forget it!'

It can be deadly. There was a case of a marathon runner who died because she was over-hydrated. What basically happens is that you dilute your system to a point where it can't function.
The recommendation, for athletes, is to drink when you're thirsty.
Just note, these are extreme cases and I don't know how much water you drink.

Yes, but it's very difficult to drink so much that it does negatively effect your health. Have you heard of water intoxication? You can possibly drink so much water that you mess up the whole balance of electrolites and your salt level drops dangerously low. People have actually died that way, but like I said, it's very difficult to drink that much water.
