I've always used revolution for cats because it not only takes care of fleas but most other parasites. I didnt realize that it required a RX from a vet and the vet im now going too doesnt write prescriptions for that stuff because he doesnt like it....is there another alternative to revolution that will help with fleas, ticks, ringworm, ear mites, etc????

Advantage and a twice yearly worming is all you need. If the cat does not have mites, why keep treating for it???? It really is overkill, and that is why many vets do not like it.

IT IS A MISCONCEPTION THAT INDOOR CATS DO NOT GET HEARTWORM. My cat got it and I have the blood test to prove it. If you let your cat outside, her chances of getting it are increased. Remember, THERE IS NO CURE FOR HEARTWORM IN CATS! I was lucky because we caught the disease early, but there will still be permanent damage in her lungs because of it. We have to pump her with steroids and asthma medication every day, and there's still a small chance that she could die if the worms block her air passage. All we had to do to prevent this was spend $10/month during mosquito season to apply Revolution, but my vet, like yours, didn't think it was appropriate. If your vet won't provide it, find a different vet. The chances of getting heartworm may be small, but the devastation is significant. You have nothing to lose by treating her w/ Revolution. Please do it. Anyone telling you differently has not had the experience I had. If she is able to pull through, I will be giving my cat Revolution during mosquito season every year from now on so we never have to go through this again.

Why are you treating for so many things? I've had cats for years and haven't ever seen a tick on one.
Revolution, to the best of my knowledge, has no effect on ringworm.
Advantage is great...you have to be sure it gets on skin-back of neck- it keeps fleas from breeding & doing the egg thing.
The two parasites your cat is most likely to have are fleas, and tapeworm.
The tapeworm can be aquired by the cat having swallowed a flea while grooming, so you can see why flea control is important.
Tapeworm can be treated with a very safe pill from the vet (prescription) called Drontal.
You don't have to worry about tapeworm unless your cat has fleas.
Advantage isn't prescription.
