"To become an FBI Special Agentyou must be a U.S. citizen or a citizen of the Northern Mariana Islands. You must be at least 23 years of age, but younger than 37 upon your appointment as a Special Agent. You must possess a four-year degree from a college or university accredited by one of the regional or national institutional associations recognized by the United States Secretary of Education. You must have at least three years of professional work experience. You must also possess a valid driver’s license and be completely available for assignment anywhere in the FBI's jurisdiction.
All applicants for the Special Agent position must first qualify under one of five Special Agent Entry Programs. These programs include:
Accounting
Computer Science/Information Technology
Language
Law
Diversified"
All except "Diversified" have a 4-year or better (Law has a JD) degree requirement.
Diversified reads as such: To qualify under the Diversified Program, you must have a BS or BA degree in any discipline, plus three years of full-time work experience, or an advanced degree accompanied by two years of full-time work experience.

You MUST have a four year degree to become an investigator for the FBI.
You must ALSO have three years of "Professional Work Experience".
Military service will not replace the degree requirement, but may satisfy the Work Experience requirement.

When last I heard from an FBI recruiter, a degree in law or a degree in accounting was required.

If you want to be a special agent, you do have to meet all the educational requirements, which include a college degree. For other jobs, some only require a h.s. education.

not too sure, but my friend just finished his third degree to qualify for a certain position with the FBI, so i guess it may depend on what department of the fbi you want to join.
