It seems like atheist and Christians are always arguing to each other on here, and putting each other down. Why is that? Can't we all just get along?

I think so. Its just a matter of respecting each other and eachoters beliefs. I have friends that are from all faiths and we have never had an argument. Some ppl just need to stop trying to "play God" by telling ppl that they are going to hell because of what they believe. I can't stand that. I have had so many small town bible beaters tell me I am going to hell, and I am a Christian!!!! I totally believe in Christ and the he is my savior. But because I am Latter-Day Saint for some reason, according to some, I am not a christian. Anyway if we all just stop judging and leave that to God or whoever one believes is the higher power then we could all get along, and stop trying to convert everyone you see. I have never once had a pagan or the like try to "convert" me. I would share the message of my beliefs but only if I felt that I could share it without causing an argument. I don't mind talking religion but if its going to be a fight I don't even bother.

Evidentally not. Look what Gen. D just said. If you're a christian, you're not intelligent? See, it's put downs like this that keeps the fire going. And Orion's question just posted; Only Cool Christians Answer? And he just keeps on and on with the questions trying his best to wipe out christianity belief. Of course it won't happen, but are people like this confused and want to believe or just want to argue? And it's true what I've said before. People are sure 'braver' on Y/A then face-to-face with someone who is not of their belief. I agree with you; Christians, Atheists, Jews, Muslims, whatever, need to remember to Respect each other and their views!

I would have no problem with atheists, if they would just stop trying to tell my children that they may not pray, or thank their God in a public forum. If they would just stop trying to legislate everyone's life according to their morals and ethics, we wouldn't have so much to argue about.
I don't see why we can't get along...

Of Course we can. But it all boils down to our choice. We can choose to set aside our differences and stop the hatred (which will probably make R & S a pretty boring place, with all the heated debates, which R & S is famous for, gone) or to continue on with this war that nobody seems to be winning (and continue the hatred and discrimination and such).

I agree with you... Can't we just get along? We are all humans after all, wanting the same thing, feeling the same emotions, and hurting the same way. We love and take joy in our families the same way.
But unfortunately some in here and everywhere else are filled with so much negativity and hate. They hate their very existence, never mind anyone Else's... especially someone else that does not think like them. If only we would listen with our hearts, before we answer back. If only we could feel what the other one is feeling... if only.
But again, it goes back to God.... Unless you have God in your life you do not know how to love. God is Love, and with God there is no hate. If only we could all believe in the one true God. If only....

Hope so, I have no problem. But there is so much hatred and no body wants to listen to each other. Most users want to show their intelligence in arguing but not explain their point of view.

I'm ready for a truce at any time. We could beat our swords into ploughshares and live together in mutual harmony and respect, and vow never to interfere in each others' lives again.

All the theists have to do is stop trying to legislate my life according to their beliefs, stop influencing and lobbying politicians, get their fingers out of medicine, science, entertainment, international relations, sexuality, and reproductive rights. Oh, and stop all these wars.

Ready when you are.

It will never happen because each one of them would want to disprove the other.

The major difference ( that is never going to be solved ) is that athiests don't believe in God and thiests believe in God. None of them will agree to what they debate upon.

But, I hope I'm proved wrong.

I think its because we really don't understand each others viewpoint. We think we do,but we don't. Atheists I think come to their decisions based on scientific facts and logic whereas believers come to their conclusions based on what they feel in their heart and their spiritual mind. Two totally different methods. It's very difficult to debate because we're approaching the issue from different perspectives and different criteria used in reaching our conclusions.
