It won't kill you, but it's not ideal. When you wear contacts you get protein buildup and a potential breeding ground for bacteria, which will increase your risk of an eye infection. Your eyes will also get very dry (I have to put drops in first thing in the morning, I can barely open my eyes otherwise). Since your eyes get so dry, there is a chance of the contacts coming out of place, especially since our eyes move around in our sleep. I've woken up and thought a contact had fallen out, only to discover it on the BACK of my eye! That was an adventure to get out, believe me.
I don't know what brand you use, but the best I've ever had is the Night & Day contacts. If you have a tendency to sleep in your contacts, you will notice a major difference. They breathe so much better than other lenses. A little pricey, but so worth it if you sleep in your contacts regularly.

You aren't supposed to leave contacts in overnight, because the contacts don't allow enough air to get to your eyes. It can cause a really bad infection, and some people even end up losing an eye because of the infection. I wouldn't be leaving contacts in my eyes overnight. I wear contacts also, and that's what my eye doctor told me.

I use to wear contacts and back when the disposables came out I would wear mine till time to change them. I started having trouble seeing at a distance all of a sudden. I got it checked and found out wearing the contacts all the time was causing my corneas to swell. Also wearing them all the time can cause ulcers on your eye, more so if you do not disinfect them properly when you take them out. If they are the extended wear, sleeping in them once in awhile (like if you come in late and too sleepy to take them out) shouldn't hurt as long as you hydrate them the next morning with the re-wetting drops and take them out before bed that night.

I am not sure but I think they may cause your eyes to dry out and make them (the contacts not the eyes!) harder to remove.

once my friend rubbed her eye when wearing contacts, and it sort of went to the back of her eye! also i think it can give you eye infections if you dont remove, and clean them.
