Yeah right, Jacob! you know all those old farts are doing is eating egg sandwiches AND even if they did see something threatening they'd probably have a heart attack before they could tell anyone

All such measures are a waste of money ...until they aren't. All it takes is one citizen who notices something that looks out of place to foil an attack. If some old dude notices some suspicious activity, notifies authorities and stops a missile attack on the airliner you were just flying out of Chicago in, I would say you would think it was worth all the gas money in the world.
