First words come at an average of 12 months, I believe, give or take 2 months. Full sentences comes a lot later, maybe 2-3 years average.
A child is not considered a candidate for delayed development until they reach 18 months and have not gained any vocabulary.

it depends. CHildren start copying words around 9-12 months, talking with more understand some time between then and 16 months.
Usually by 20 months they have a few short words strung together.
The major communication milestones are around 2 years.
Each child is different. Boys tend to be later, as do younger siblings with older sisters. As a rule of thumb girls are communicaters, and will do most of the talking for younger siblings. lol.
Ive seen boys not talk until theyre 3 or better.
I happened to have only one word until I was two,and didnt use sentences until I was 3.

Depends on the child. I have been blessed with being able to stay at home with my kids. My daughter was saying dada, mama and kitty at 8 months. She still is very smart for her age and my son was talking at about 10 mths and is almost 2 now and can 3 to 4 word sentences.

it depends on the child and the parent,
Parents who don't talk to their child very much one on one, won't have talking children very early.
My daughter was talking at 10 months, and sentences were at 15 months.
My son who was a bit slower, was talking at 2 and sentences at 3.
I used to work in a daycare center and am also a teacher, and it does not matter whether it is a boy or girl, some just talk earlier than others.

depends on the child. I've known one year olds that could carry on a conversation like they were grown. but then I've known three year olds that were still struggling with making conversation, and the sentences they did make were not understandable.

Differs from kid to kid. Little girls tend to speak earlier as young as 15 months. My boy didn't say his first word until he was almost 2 and he's almost three now and still doesn't really speak whole sentences.
