I agree Pearl. I love the Asian side. I never want to move from here. It's clear, fresh and Turkey. When we go to the European side I feel surrounded by a real big city. They have succombed to the EU already. :(

Hmmm. Maybe the European side has always been somewhere people do business and Asian side has always been residential places. Then the population of Istanbul explodes, little residential places all merge into one big city, all business centers do likewise and residential places in European side get drowned under the load and with no wise city planning, we get a hectic city.

Still, I would say you are generalizing. Istanbul is as diverse as her people.

employing seaway is the terrific. There are boats(do not think of that's perfect to call them ferries) you will detect at any time of the day.the terrific course is Üsküdar-Be?ikta?. Will take approximately 7 minutes.the cost is a million,30 YTL one way. To get to Grand Bazaar, take the boat from Üsküdar to Eminönü (would be approximately quarter-hour).Take the tram there. (you will see the railway once you get out of the boat) you will attain the GB with a 8-9 minutes experience. Have a advantageous time.

1. Car Parking
2. Green space - park areas. (again important for those with kids)
3. Better water-gas and electricity connections-- infrastructure is newer
4. More shopping centers(good on a hot summer day)
5. Well laid-out neighbourhoods
6. Fewer gawking villagers
7. Cheaper and better quality properties
8. Moda Park and sea front
9. Good connections to the Euro side
10. It's not full of Euro-trash tourists who walk up and down Taksim, the Euro-trashy expats who tend to populate Cihangir, and the magandas who are magnetised towards them

Because lots of people work on European side and live on Asian. So they care more about their homes.

I just noticed that when I am in Asia, I can actually look at shops whilst in many European countries I have to look on the street not to trip again in another dog pooh! It was very noticeable though how clean Turkish cities were in contrast! Way to go Turkey!

Exactly misinformed... or a partial observation...

Istanbul has two continents. Both continents have rich residents and suburbs.

Side............Rich&Coord. Residence........Suburb
Europian.......Basaksehir.............................Bagcilar
Asian.............Pendik Sea Side...................Pendik Kurtkoy

Europian........Atakoy.....................................Habibler
Asian..............Bagdat Caddesi....................Sarıgazi

and so on....
