Its always nervous and over exitment to some people who are meeting new people , but then it would be fine if u try to stay calm and try to understand the new person and the environment and u can speak accordingly ,

u may never know if u speak relaxed and natural , there won't be new people in few minutes ...

WELL, lost of us are nervous meeting new people. If you remember that even the cool and calm stranger might be nervous about meeting you; but simply not showing it; might make things easier for you.

Practice makes perfect; meet strangers in environments that you feel VERY comfortable in - e.g. your school, church etc; and slowly move to people outside your comfort zone.

I think some of that has to do with age and inexperience. Try to get involved with groups where you have an interest. It's easier to tallk to new people when you have a common interest. The more you get involved, the more comfortable you will become. It takes time and practice, like everything else.

Remember you are new to them too, so they are probably as nervous as you are.
Next time you meet someone new, make it easier on both of you. Bring it up and break the ice.

..if you don't try to get over this fear, you might have problems later in life, socializing with co-workers,bosses etc..could hurt promotions...it hurts married couples,if one does not like to mingle,or have fun at social functions. It does hurt one's image.(speaking from experience) It helps to start in High School to learn communacation, socializing skills, sometimes in speech and drama classes help.Just learning how to present yourself...because their are functions, fraternaties, sororities in college you need to present yourself properly. Then as a young person in the workplace.presenting presentations, interoffice conferences, meetings, clients,,things you don't think about in life will come at you...I think a class teaching social skills, and interactions with groups would help...
This is what I did: I practiced at home in front of a mirror, with conversation, presenting myself.Always promote a clean, well dressed self image of yourself..clothes DO make the man.
If you feel confident in the way you look, you project that confidence to others.People will accept you more, they want to converse with you.PRACTICE by talking to total strangers.
you can join a self help group=look online, this group therapy helps you to know how to act with other people, wheather they are new or same old..Just be confident, introduce yourself, and once conversation starts, you will relax, remind yourself your not the only one in the group,,that feels that way.
but, practice introducing yourself to people and situations on a daily bases...it works!
