You just found out your Mother in her early twenties was a stripper, or your father was convicted of a terrible crime, and served time. Would that change what you think of them?

I would laugh about my mum being a stripper but if my dad committed a truly terrible crime I think it would tear my life apart... Being a stripper doesn't really hurt anyone... and so long as there was a reason for her doing it i.e. needing money and that she doesn't do it anymore, I don't see the harm in it... If my dad committed a crime and hurt someone then I wouldn't be able to look at him in the same way again... I don't know whether I could cut him out of my life but it would certainly destroy our relationship

When I was younger and had higher expectations of life, I would have been devasted.
Now I know that life's experiences can either make you or break you. If my parents had been what you suggested, I could see that activity in their past opened them up to be the good people they are today.

Nope providing they had been good parents to me and given me the proper love and that I loved them in return I would not see a big problem with this. Look everyone sometimes in their youth makes bad decisions and sometimes they will haunt people throughout their lives. But the examples you give are nothing to make me think any less of parents.

No.
Though it may make me wonder about any violent or self worth problems I might have taken in from via environment or genetics.
