I would like to see property taxes abolished & a 2% city tax of personal income be charged along with an increase in state income taxes. Here, in North Dakota, our property tax is way out of line, while our state income tax is almost nill. Some people want to abolish the state income tax. This would only benefit the extremely wealthy & the large corporations. With the 2% city tax & the increase in state income tax, this should help fund our schools & provide services for the entire state.

You'd generally have my support on that. Income taxes are the fairest of all taxes as they are based upon the taxpayer's ability to pay.

Property taxes are loosely coupled to ability to pay in that one hopefully buys within their budget. At least during your working years you should be able to afford them. The problem with property taxes comes when you retire on a fixed income, especially when prices rise out of proportion to the cost of living. Many fixed-income retirees are forced to sell their homes as property taxes rise out of proportion to their ability to pay.

Actually, under your plan, the wealthy would probably break even or get a break, since they would tend to have large houses with lots of property tax. Same for large corporations - they might well make out just fine.

Property tax tends to hit everyone. Home owners pay it, and for renters, it's essentially included in their rent. An income tax taxes the people who are reporting their income. People working under the table would avoid the taxes under your plan.

Have you looked at the changes in Florida for property taxes? Maybe you can create an exemption amount that is higher than now so you can pay lower property taxes.

people who oppose abolishing the federal earnings tax fall into numerous communities: a million. people who're philosophically orientated to making a socialist state. a number of those all and sundry is utopian dreamers who think of that we could elitists to make possibilities for us. Others desire to apply our very own funds to impose their very own will on us. those human beings can fall into communities which we call socialists, communists and fascists. 2. There are people who matter on the taxpayers for their economic reward. i'm no longer pertaining to those who've contributed to Social protection or veterans. i'm talking of human beings who's occupations or products matter on government largess. 3. finally, there are silly people who have faith that government could no longer exist and not making use of a private earnings tax. they do no longer look to understand that we functioned o.k. in the previous 1913, in actuality, human beings have been coming here interior the tens of millions in the previous we had a private earnings tax (or any of the social courses). via abolishing the very own earnings tax, no longer basically would we shop the money that we at present pay, we could shop tens of millions if no longer billions of greenbacks via no longer having to pay the cost of holding the records needed to record our returns. greater importantly, there would be no audits. no person would ask your self whether their "papers have been so as" each and every time they filed their earnings tax. no person would we prosecuted for earnings tax evasion, or failing to record, or maybe erroneously itemizing what's, and is not any longer deductible. And greater importantly, our funds would be our enterprise, and no person else's. we does no longer be informing others of what we made, what we spent, and what we spent it on. you're splendid. If we stopped waging conflict worldwide, and limited the events of our federal government to what the form authorizes, we could do away with the very own earnings tax.
