why do muslims say, "christians we can befriend, christians we love. christians worship the same God as muslims!"?

but when the minute a muslim relative of theirs converts to CHristianity, the whole family disowns and him/her, and in some cases, seek to kill him/her?

are they hypocritical or what?

Dear, Islam respect Christians. frankly, Islam is the only religion which counts Christianity as a religion from GOD.
But no muslim likes their dear ones to leave Islam because it is the complete religion so why do you leave your complete one and go to any other religion? in this case the relatives try to convince the converted son to return to Islam by logic.
I have a question for you, what are the procedures that can be taken when a christian leaves his religion?
Your question carries a bad word ' hypocritical' about a holy religion please take care of the words because we all brothers and sisters created by GOD

Yes, I think that is a lie. I know of a case where a Muslim woman became a Christian, and her sister's husband ordered her back to the Mosque with a threat on her life. He said he would kill her if she didn't return to the Mosque immediately. She was terrified into compliance.

This happened in Connecticut, not Egypt, or Libya, or Iran.

Besides, we do not worship the same God. Every Muslim believes that Allah has no son. Every Christian believes that God gave his only begotten Son.

(I should like to point out, however, that this Muslim fellow makes a valid point.)

according to The Qur'an, jews and christians are the people of the book. this is the name given to them. we respect them and such. we don t have any hard feelings. and we do believe that we believe in the same God:
“And do not dispute with the followers of the Book except by what is best, except those of them who act unjustly, and say: We believe in that which has been revealed to us and revealed to you, and our God and your God is One, and to Him do we submit.” The Qur'an (29:46)
however, we each have our own beliefs:
"...I worship not what you worship. Nor will you worship that whom i worship. I shall never worship those whom you worship, nor will you ever worship whom i worship. To you your religion and to me mine." The Qur'an (109: 2-5)
To be honest, I haven't heard of hardly any cases similar to that of which you speak. From my knowledge of Islam (I'm still young and learning), it is forbidden to kill unjustly:
“…If anyone slew a person-unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land-it would be as if he slew the whole people…”The Qur’an (5:32)
...and does such an example not seem unjustly?!
In the alleged family's perspective, they probably loved the person so much that they wanted what they felt was best for him/her. This may have gone to the suggested extent of disowning and such. However, I have researched and have not found these practices to correlate with Islamic beliefs. Thank you for your extensive time.

after reading fellow posts, i would like to add a couple of things:
1) Polygamy:
"Marry women of your choice, two, or three, or four; but if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one." Qur’an (4:3)
"You will never be able to be fair and just among women (wives)...." Qur’an (4:129)
basically, it was allowed because way back then women couldn't financially support themselves, and with their husbands going off to wars and dying, it was the only solution.
2)to this person who keeps condemning muslims:
a)double check your sources before posting! the Net carries LIES
b)if you want to quote something, and it actually happens to be true and not made up, try quoting the whole verse instead of half as to give the reader the RIGHT impression!
c) in every religion, there are people who know little, people who know much, fanatics, people who are reasonable, and people who hate other religions because they are scared to be wrong!

Peace Be Unto All of You...

I've heard about this... (This isn't about ALL Muslims either, be careful not to generalize)

It's kind of like this scenario. You're with your friends, lets say, and you have two pieces of gum, but there's only 3 people including you...you'll still offer to be nice and polite, but you REALLY WISH for them not to take the part the corresponds to you.

Now apply this scenario to the Muslims says, "Christians we can befriend, Christians we love..." etc. It's something they do to be polite, but when it comes down to REALLY living up what they say...it's a NO CAN DO.

I wouldn't call them hypocritical, just fake...it's not necessary for them to polite or modest like that. It's not necessary for anyone to be that way, who cares who you like or not?

how many "Christians" realize the G_D of the Bible and the G_D of the Qu'ran are one in the same, YHWH.

don't "Christians" drive out their family members, dis own them and treat them like dirt if they quit the religion or converts to say Islam?

We Muslims are making Christian generations colorful. The Christians women are divorced are in excessive in quantity than men and as well as the number of available women rises due to abundance of gays movements. We Muslims are allowed polygamy. We are marrying these excess woman population and making them house wives. Obviously it is respectable to make a woman queen of home instead of freeing them to become public property. We feel sorry when we see any woman becomes public property due to scarcity of males in western society. There are 7 millions women more than men in single America. There are 25 million gays in America. Behold, if marriage market is super saturated and every one man has one wife there will be 32 million women which will have no man to marry. Now there are two solutions of this problem. Either they becomxe public property as Christianity does not allow polygamy. Otherwise follow Islam, and get marry to already man(polygamy). What is good solution?
