Mike,

I get from your question that if it's only your life at risk, why should anyone else force you to wear a seat belt.

Regardless of the law and the fact that a seat belt could save your life;

YOUR SEAT BELT COULD SAVE THE LIFE OF ANOTHER PERSON.

Lets say you're traveling down a road at 40 MPH and somebody blows through a Stop Sign and hits you on the passenger side of your car.

Without a seat belt, the impact would push your car to the side and you would find yourself kissing the passenger side door & window.

Nobody would be behind the wheel and your car is still traveling approximately 40 MPH without a driver.

A seatbelt will keep you behind the wheel so you could possibly steer and/or hit the brakes so as to avoid a secondary accident.

If I didn't wear my seatbelt and ended up killing one of your family members in a secondary accident because I wasn't behind the wheel, how would you feel about my actions and the law requiring seatbelts?

well, first of all, if there was NO driver, there would be no need for a seatbelt.........would there?
Statistics show that there is a higher possibility of you surviving a crash wearing a seat belt.
A crash happens in just a few seconds. During that time your car hits something or rolls and suddenly stops. Your body keeps going and hits the steering wheel or you get thrown out through the windshield are . If you roll, you are tossed all over the place.
Your chances of survival increase if you choose to buckle up.
We cannot control what others do. Perhaps talking to a first responder such as a police officer or paramedic about seat belts might convince you?

mike,
I believe in most cities it is required by law to wear belts. It doesn't matter if there is 3 or 4 or just one person. Howvever, mike it is the drivers responsibility to make sure the passenger wears seat belts.

Many accidents occur because not wearing a seatbelt. It doesn't matter if the driving is in the city or out in the country.

simply by fact as human beings we tend to do stupid issues with our automobiles velocity, run crimson lighting fixtures fixtures, force on the incorrect side of the line,and so on and not taking the time to buckle up the single concern that makes all the different secure practices products (air luggage secure practices glass, Collapsible steerage Columns.) artwork appropriate. So we had to have a regulation REQUIRING you're able to buckle your seat belt. whether no one else is in the automobile with you an twist of fate can nonetheless happen and without a seat belt you're able to be ejected from the automobile, impaled in the steerage column, have your face destroyed by means of hitting an airbag because it expands. think of roughly what passed off to Dale Earnhardt He became wearing a 4 component device That BROKE while hit the wall he could nonetheless be employing if his seat belt did not fail. i'm going to chosen to placed on one each and every time i'm getting in a automobile you in no way comprehend what could happen
