There is a Simpsons episode where two guys put anti-freeze, in small amounts, in wine for flavor. I realize this is a cartoon and obviously not real, but do people actually do this? For an good or bad reason?

Yeah, people actually do this, but it's illegal and extremely dangerous, especially if you drink that wine. The anti freeze "fakes" in a certain way the aging process, but it's also venomous and might render you blind.
It's used because it's faster than pouring your wine in a big barrel and then wait around for a couple of decades

No - you shouldn't put anti-freeze in wine. Even though - there have been real life episodes where rascals & scondrels have adulturated wine with it and with other poisons that have actually blinded and killed prople.

I would think they would only do this if they were trying to commit suicide. Antifreeze is deadly. Cats drink antifreeze that is on the ground under cars because of the sweet smell and then die. So unless you were wanting to end your life, then do not do it.

I don't know about that-but ethanol is metabolized in your liver to a chemical very like antifreeze-so drink up :)

Its poison!!!!!!!!!!!!! U COULD DIE!! one time antifreeze leaked form my dads 94 volvo and the neighbors weenie dog sniffed it out cuz its sweet smelling and sipped some AND SHE DIEDDD well not really she just thru up...
