Most advocates of breast feeding (La Leche league etc.) Do not suggest starting solids until the baby is closer to 6 months.
Signs your baby is starting to be ready to be introduced to solids:
*he is about four months old
*he becomes more sociable, playing and holding "conversations" with you during a nursing session
*he has a growth spurt and nurses more frequently for a while
*he imitates the chewing motions you make whilst eating -- he is practicing!
Signs your baby is really ready for Solids:
*he is about six months old
*he can sit up without any support
*he continues to be hungry despite more frequent nursing which is unrelated to illness or teething
*he has lost the tongue-thrusting reflex and does not push solids out of his mouth
*he can pick up things with his finger and thumb (pincer grasp)

Start with a small amount of rice cereal as its gluten free and less allergenic than other foods/cereals. Increase the amount and thickness as time passes. Once the baby gets used to eating the cereal you can add fruit and veggies. Its suggested you add one at a time to allow your baby to get used to the new tastes and textures and also to allow you to watch for signs of allergies. At around 8/9 months your baby should be eating 3 meals a day including meats.

As for homemade VS commerically bought foods thats a personal decision. My kids have all eaten "table foods" from the day they started solids. I have used my blender to mix up the foods with breastmilk added to get the proper consistancy. By 8/9 months they have been able to handle small "chunks" of food.
Good luck!

I would not recommend homemade for now...start with oatmeal or rice cereal that is made specifically for baby and make it very watery, After a week or two introduce stage one green veggies. If the baby does not experience any allergic reactions you can introduce orange veggies. Again wait a week to start introducing new things. Do the veggies first then go for the fruits. Otherwise your baby is more likely to reject the veggies cuz fruit is better. I would start this around 4 or5 months. This is the safest way to introduce new foods. Some people do not choose this option but if the baby is allergic and gets sick you would have no idea what caused it if you introduce everything at once! Good luck!

Whilst your sons grandparents have high-quality intentions alot of the matters that went on again of their day may be very out of date and not relevant. I in my view might now not be beginning any youngster on cast meals at three mo. Giving cast meals too early can also be damaging to a childs wellness total however peculiarly their digestive wellness as their methods don't seem to be mature sufficient but. Also the more youthful they begin on solids the much more likely they're to expand meals sensitivities and allergy symptoms. New study does recommend that you just must wait till 6 months and meanwhile if they're very hungry provide extra milk, nonetheless any mom will let you know a few toddlers simply would possibly not wait that lengthy. My daughter began cast meals simply earlier than she became 5mo. I might wait till a minimum of four and a part months historical even though. If you're involved approximately his urge for food or weight reap see a health care provider or talk to the sanatorium once more however or else simply provide an explanation for to the grandparents that whilst you recognize their recommendation a few of it is only not advocated and that is your little one finally. When your youngster is capable for cast fod he's going to begin showing indicators to can help you recognize - those incorporate displaying high-quality curiosity in and achieving to your meals whilst you're consuming and sitting up and/or retaining their head up very good. When you introduce cast meals to a youngster who is not capable they're going to effortlessly spit the meals again out as they've a tongue reflex that motives this to occur and it's not till round five-6m that this is going. Some toddlers want even longer and do not start cast fod till 7-eight months. There's no tough and quick rule it is as much as the person youngster however 6 mo is a well consultant and you should not pass greater than a month or so both aspect until medically warranted.

Talk to your pediatrician first before you start any solid food. Usually you start feeding cereals (mixed with breast milk) between 5 and 6 months, twice daily. I bought cereals (rice, barley, oatmeal, and mixed) and waited a week after introducing each one to look for allergies. After six months I started introducing fruits, then vegetables, and finally meats (at around 9 months). Other than the cereals I made all my own baby food. You can steam the food until it get soft and then mix it in a food processor. Freeze the food in ice cube trays, put it in freezer bags and when dinner time comes just thaw out a cube. You'll have the perfect baby sized portion.

Pediatricians recommend between the ages of 4-6 months.
You should always start with veggies first- giving them fruits first is not a good idea as they develop a taste for the sweets and then not want the veggies.
If you start cereal- do rice first. Some babies are allergic to the oats or wheat in the oatmeal.
Yes, you can do homemade recipies. I have a food processor by Black and Decker- and make our baby homemade baby food all the time.
Good luck and have fun!!!

Hi there. You should start her on solids at around four months. And when you will start, the baby will give you the signs if she is ready or not. try giving baby rice as first meal. then you start giving her lentil soup and let her taste what you eat, no chunky food food just let her lick from your finger. Then she will know the taste. And for home made receipes you can search on the internet and you will find a lot of them.Hope this helps

Sure! start with some mashed potato from your dinner plate. Or cook just plain mashed potato, sweet potato, pumpkin or peas to start with. Just one vege at a time. Steam it/microwave (not boil, loses to many nutrients) and then puree till consistency of thick cream.
You need to start bland and then move on to 'recipes'. Try mashed banana too. Just 1-2 tbls spoon once a day is enough for now. Or you could buy baby rice cereal that you mix with formula or expressed breastmilk.
Good luck. This is the fun part!!

Start giving the baby solids whenever she is needing them. ie not sleep as well through the night is wanting more milk etc. There is no exact month. At the begining just try mixing up tinned apples. That always worked for the babies that have come into my care as Im a foster parent.
