will she be put down even though shes pregnant?
how about if she arrives with a litter of new born kittens?

You'll have to call your local shelter to find out for sure. Where I live, pregnant animals are not euthenized, and the mother and kittens are kept well fed and cared for until its same for them to be adopted out. Call the shelter to find out first.

If you are planning on taking her to the pound yourself, be very careful while handling her, she will probably try to protect herself and her babies and may inadvertantly harm you. Its best to have the animal control come and get her, if she bites you that will condemn her for sure.

I used to volunteer for the SPCA and if it was a stray cat and it had no hope of finding a home then they would put it down. If they got a mom and kittens all would be put down, the same day they came. It all depends on the policies of the particular pound. I know some SPCA's that never put the animals down. Why don't you start researching different pounds and find out what there policies are etc. Doesn't sound like you really have control over what happens to the cat so you can maybe find out information and hopefully your mom will take your advice. Good luck.

No she won't! The 'worst' that would happen is that they would spay her, aborting the kittens - they wouldn't kill her!

It's not hard to find a no-kill shelter that doesn't spay pregnant cats after a certain term. Just ring around shelters, ask what their policies are. They'll be honest, no point not being.

I wouldn't advise waiting until she's had the kittens, if there's a problem with the birth this could be too late.

depends on the pound's policies. Some automatically euthanize strays and owner turn ins because of lack of homes. Cats are more numerous than dogs, and less likely to be adopted.

Being humanely euthanized is far better than a life on the street.

Depending on how far along she is in her pregnancy, they may spay her before she delivers. If she is otherwise healthy and a small cat that still looks kitten-ish, she may have a chance at being adopted. Otherwise her chances are not very good.

One possibilty would be to research low cost spays in your area, have her spayed before she delivers (again, depending on how far along she is), and return her to the neighborhood.

I would not turn her in with a litter of new born kittens. Think of it this way: each one of her cute little kittens is one less chance for HER to be adopted.

Unless the shelter you take her to is a no-kill shelter, she will likely be put down (and her kittens, too) unless someone adopts her.

That's a bummer and I'm sorry to say this so bluntly, but that's how shelters operate--the animals get a few days or weeks to be adopted then they're euthanized.

Wherever you'd take her:ASPCA, RSPCA, shelters, pounds, they will EUTHANISE HER AND THE BABIES. Leave her alone if you cannot atke her or at least feed her regularly. Once she delivers, post adds on internet and around neighborhood to find them nice homes, for her and teh kittens.

Take her to the ASPCA, they won't kill her, she'll be spayed after the kittens are weaned and they'll all be found new homes. The pound will kill her. Check out your local ASPCA.
