I've self injured in the past and have gone this whole summer without doing it. And I've suffered from mild-moderate depression the past five years. Both things my family doesn't know. Lately my sister has been extraordinarily cruel to me. Cussing at me, calling me names, taking the knob out of my door... She's going back to college tomorrow, but the damage is already done. I'm almost at my breaking point now... I feel so frustrated that I don't know what to do.

I can't "knock off" my self injury. I'm trying though... but it's a real condition that's hard to stop. Also, ironically, I have very high self esteem.

eyedontnose, well for one thing I don't cut. And I realize about what's happening in the world. But my life isn't so easy either. I actually volunteer in my free time for others.

Well, first off I'd like to say good for you for going the summer without injuring yourself. That's a step forward.
Since you're had this for several years, you may want to go to therapy. The therapist will help you get to the root of the problem; it may not just be your sister that's bothering you.
Remember though that if you do go to therapy, stick with it because the first few sessions are sort of rough, but you'll feel a lot better once you've been in it for a few months or so.
There's a light at the end of the tunnel!

Try this for a quick relief of stress:

Flex all your muscles really, really hard! Start with your toes, and end with your eyes. And then, count to 3, and relax them all at once.

Or, just take a moment. Go outside, into a quiet place. Close your eyes, breath deep, and focus on something in your mind. Like, a candle. Or a waterfall. Or a rainbow, or whatever you want. Anytime you start to think about something else, try to push it completely out of your mind.
Sometimes, it makes me fall asleep, so make sure you don't do it in the middle of the road or something. :P

But please, whatever you do, don't self-injure. It's -excellent- that you've stopped for the summer. Don't let your sister make you do it again.

I know you don't want to tell your parents, but you should, especially if your sister is a main source of your anxieties. Telling them will seriously get a huge load off your shoulders that you've been carrying around for a long time--even if you don't realize it.

Good luck, and if you need someone to talk to, gimme an e-mail. ;D

This worked for me.

Take time out to go to your local childrens cancer ward.
Check out people who have problems that you can only pray will never hit you.

What you are going through is what western civilisation is suffering from.

We no longer have to fight to survive.
We no longer have to worry if we are going to eat tomorrow.
We only worry because we have nothing to worry about.

Somebody took the knob off your door?

Do you hear yourself?

Check out what is happening in Dafor or the child workers of China or the sex slaves in the Congo.

And if you still feel like cutting yourself - when you see your blood - think of the child that sees its mother raped and killed in front of its eyes and remember that the blood is the same colour. And that mother did not want her child to see hers.

Please - stop and think.

Depression sucks. The best way to beat it is to take care of yourself... stay away from sugar and high- fat foods and exercise like crazy. Get those endorphins pumping and you will feel better, guaranteed. The only thing is, you have to do it everyday. Try it, it won't hurt.

I'd find someone to T-Pee her car, dorm room with wads of you know what and tell her to go F&*K herself and you need to tell yourself jealousy makes you great. Your sister has freakin deep seated issues you need to pay her back for and part of your depression is thinking she's better than you.

try to go into a mental hospital for awhile and then when you get out talk to people they might be able to help you control your anger and to stop you from killing your self.
nothing ever seems to be worth killing your self things will get better for you it just takes time I've tried it my self when my girlfriend and i broke up because of her friend who lied to her.
