Well this word has a meaning but to really understand you must understand the book that it is in order to find what the word BIBLE means

It's from the Greek word Biblos, which means 'book'. The New Testament was written in Greek, The Old in Hebrew, with small sections of Aramaic in both.

Remember, the bible was compiled before the printing press was invented, so books were rare, and expensive. 'The Bible' seems to mean the most important book, wich stood above all others.
