Serious question. No offense intended. This is for real self searching.
Please don´t answer with verses, I won´t read them.
Be sincere, you´d only be fooling yourself if you´re not.

My answer to your value (1) question included a statement to the effect of, "When I challenge my minister's teaching, most of the time I discover he was right and I was wrong." In that aspect I have to cede to his biblical knowledge. But there have been occasions where I have pointed out something he had not considered.

Secondly, although I do take the Bible pretty much at face value, I am much more willing to speculate at the things that are left unsaid within it. I explore alternate scenarios, that most people would arbitrarily call "Un-Biblical" although they in no way contradict scripture.

But ultimately I have to say that he is more knowledgeable than me insofar as the history and theology of my belief system.

I am a minister. I've obtained a lot of knowledge over the past 28 years of serving God. I believe I know more than the average Christian. However, does that mean I know it all? Absolutely not! One must always keep himself open to teaching. My minister and I are probably about equal in our knowledge of Scripture. But there are definitely things he knows that I don't, and vice-versa.

Yes. He is 80 years old and has been a Christian, and studying the bible, for about 70 years. I have only been in bible study for 10. He is well versed in the bible and in church history and history of the times that the books of the bible were written. He is very well educated in all these things, much more than I.

On some things? Yes. But I think I've researched more religions, more theology, and more apologetics than he has. He's only HEARD of some of the books I've read. We certainly couldn't debate on Egyptian mythology, that's for sure.

He is knowledgeable than your are about the bible because you are ignorant regarding the bible. My minister teaches the truth about God making the bible as our guide and he is discussing with us the truth on how he understand the verses and how I understand it.
