Luke 14:33
Any of you who does not give up everything he has cannot be my disciple.
Matthew 6:24
No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and Money.
Matthew 19:21-24
Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
Acts 2:44-45
All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need.
Can you Christians do this?

You go around ranting on how rightous you are and how much you love Jesus. Well then give up all your possessions and go live on the streets. Give up your house to a beggar. Can you? Or are you just a hypocrit? Do it, and will have more respect for you. If you can't do it then don't rave on how much you love Jesus and what you will do for him.

I bet you can't do it and therefore you are not following Jesus words and therefore you are not worthy a Christian. You can't pick and choose, you need to do all He says in order to rightful. But you can't and you will probably come up with some lousy excuse to disclaim your hypocrisy.

That only applies to people with an aspiration to be "perfect." That does not describe me, so I'm not doing that. And it is NOT "contradicting yourself" to not do that.
Have a good day.

Friend, you have to read the bible as a whole and not just pick out certain scriptures.
We are also admonished in Paul's epistles to work with our hands, to care for our families, to care for the widows, etc.
Money cannot be our idol, that is certainly true. And Jesus does call us to forsake all, loving him above family, friends, possessions, etc. But that does not necessarily mean that we quit our jobs and go live in a Christian commune some place!
God leads his people in different ways at different times.
It is all a matter of our hearts - What does Jesus want me to do? Does he want me to sell all and become a missionary to a people in a far off country? Does He want me to earn money to support someone else who goes?
Jesus doesn't need our money - He needs our obedience!
God bless

Fools like you and a Satan Child will use the word of God to manipulate the Word of God. You follow your Father , that is Satan, admit it. Anyone could see that you are of the other Faith here. Satan use the word of God to tempt Jesus and he got bash and now you tried it on his children and still get bash. When will you ever learn? Are you that stupid?
You quote the Bible as if you are a child of the light but yet you can't understand it. Shame on you. If you understand the above quotes that you pick up randomly then you will do the right things. Go and sell your head to the marines and will it to the Taliban. They need the cash. Can you do it?
Don't meddle with us.
Easy isn't it? But I believe that you are not a child of Satan but an overzealous beliver of other faith. Am I correct? Please enlighten us of what Faith you are in that allows you to meddle or belittle other people Faith. Tell us. Open up and be like a man.
Can You do it?
I am sure you can because it is easy.

1 John 3:17 - But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?
When you're in the position to help someone, you should. But God doesn't ask you to do what you aren't able.
Furthermore, a person is not saved by his or her good works. A person is saved by believing in Jesus.

This question is ludicrous. It seems as if you're implying that everyone who cares about the homeless, poor, beggars, etc. that doesn't sell everything and join them is hypocritical, Christian or not. Does that mean that, even though I'm agnostic, and I volunteer at the local homeless shelter, I'm still being hypocritical if I don't leave my husband, my home, and move in under the Henley Street bridge with them?

OH MY. You read a verse in the Bible and now think you are a scholar.
How about you read the rest of the Bible then get back to me?
God will give Houses, food, clothing, all our needs .We are not told to live on the street if we are real Christians.Jesus nor His disciples lived on the street.
Most homeless people live on the streets because they have drug and or alcohol addictions.
Learn the truth ,my church follows the example of Jesus.
We feed the homeless, cloth the naked, visit the prison's,take care of the Fatherless.
DO YOU?<><
SALVATION IS NOT ABOUT WORKS.
IT IS ABOUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST.
FOR BY GRACE ARE YOU SAVED.

I don't see why I should bother answering this question, when no matter WHAT I say, to you, I would still be a hypocrite. I give money to charity, and my husband and I are NOT rich. And what business is it of yours what ANY person, Christian or not, does with THEIR money?
What I do with my husband's and my money is between myself and God, is it not? I feel no guilt over the paltry amount of possessions we own. None of it means anything next to my relationship with God. Would I be willing to give it up in an instant for God? Oh, YES! Has He specifically put the desire in me to do so? No.

grr questions like this really annoy me. Have you actually read the whole bible? Maybe if you saw the whole picture we wouldn't be hypocrites. And if I had to do these things I would. Just don't assume all christians are the same.

It's not saying to give everything up, it's saying how you need to trust God with you things. And to be devoted to Him. And to not let earthly distractions get in your way. If God has blessed you with a gift or talent, then use it! But use it to glorify Him.
I'm sorry, Max H, but I fear the Christians you have encountered are not perfect, even if they proclaim it.

So are you someone that follows those teachings, or just someone that noticed what the Bible teaches? You're correct, but I'm curious, do you subscribe to this teaching, or are you just a critic?
