I haven't felt good in so long. It started with nausea, headaches and dizziness, and random heartburn? I went to the doctor and he told me it was just "acid reflux" and i should get prilosec otc..... i keep getting cold after cold after cold. I never get sick like this! Also for the past week and a half I've been getting these weird weird headaches that start from the back of my head (above the back of my neck) working forward, it's not a migrane at all ( i used to get them bad! so I know the difference) , no aspirin/tylenol that you can buy OTC will stop the pain &I'm always cold (even sitting outside in 90 degrees with a jacket on doesn't help)! They come and go throughout the day. My short term memory is fading pretty quickly as well. I'm not too sure what it could be? *I'm NOT pregnant. &The heart burn hasn't come back since I got prilosec OTC.* Any advice other than "go to the dr" would be appreciated! I hear that every day....

** the reason i haven't been to the doctor yet is because I don't want to hear another dumbass "oh you just have acid reflux" response when that's not the problem! I'll go eventually when I figure out more about what's really wrong so they can't throw me off with their "medical knowledge" you know?

My opinion is when you go to the doctor, you should ask to have your thyroid checked first. Nausea, fatigue, dizziness can all be symptoms of over or underactive thyroid. The headaches are an interesting component to this and I wonder if they are secondary just to the stress of not feeling well at all. Unless there is a cranial issue, most headaches that start in the back of the neck and move foreward are usually muscle-tension type headaches, originating from painful tight neck muscles. Try some gentle stretching of your neck. Before you see the doc, start yourself on a good multivitamin, get plenty of rest, reduce stress where possible, and implement daily exercise and stretching. Your immune system is a little low (hence the cold after cold after cold) so the multivitamin may help that. If none of this works after a couple of weeks, then it is time to see the doctor again for those thyroid tests. Good luck to you.

The loss of your short term memory, in conjunction with the heartburn, and headaches may be the key to answering your question. The ONE thing I can think of that would affect all three of these things is a chemical imballance ( Yes memory is controled, and affected by chemicals ).
Instead of seeing a normal doctor, make an appointment with an Neurologist. Ask to have a CAT scan, as well as an EEG scan. Tell him you suspect you may be suffering from pettete mal seizures ( That would explain the short term memory loss ). If the neurologist finds anything on the CT, or EG scan he will ask you if you would like an MRI. It costs a bundle, but it may be worth it. This will help determin if the chemical imballance is caused from a mass in the brain... ie cancer, blood clot, cyst, or pallup.

Good Luck,
Jer

I know this is not the advice you wanted, but you DO need to see a DR immediatly.
There is a possibility you have mono (The symptoms are diffrent for everyone). Or something more serious.

Drink lots of water, and get alot of rest until your visit to the DR. Eat light foods like crackers and bananas.

I hope you feel better. =)

P.S. May i recomend you seeing a diffrent doctor? Be firm with him/her. Tell them you know your own body and that you are sick. Have them take a blood test and check everything. Good luck.

Well i'm gonna have to tell you to keep going back to the dr. you have to be persistent so that he/she knows there's more to it. I don't know if you've ever heard of a show called mystery diagnosis but it's about people that had symptoms and were misdiagnosed until they finally found someone who knew what was wrong with them. What i'm saying is even if your Dr. doesn't help you out, you need to go to another Dr. because (hopefully not) it might be something more to just acid reflux. Good Luck!!

Try to eat more nutritional foods. Take a multivitamin and drink lots of water. You could also look into taking a herb called echinacea. Supposedly it supports a healthy immune function. Get the right amount of sleep every night. Good luck!
