I have tried whiskey, salt, milk of magnesium, vinegar etc. Any better remedies? Something not on Wikipedia? I feel ridiculous going to the doctor about this.

Get a bottle of " L -LYSINE " 1000 mg tablets or soft gels @ Wal-Mart in the vitamin section . Take 4 or 5 the first day , and then 1 or 2 a day thereafter.. If I take the first dosage of 4 or 5 as soon as I notice a canker starting , it will be gone in 24 hours ..It is not a drug , nor is it dangerous unless I guess you take the whole bottle at once ?? "Lysine" is an indispensable amino acid that cannot be made by the human body ! Amino acids perform a variety of functions and form the basis for protein . "Lysine" is also used for the health and integrity of the skin. This is a guarantee , it works every time for me . I keep a bottle in the refrigerator always ! I found out about "Lysine" a few years ago in an article in Mens Health Magazine !!

You can buy something like Anbesol to numb the pain. And I heard swishing sauerkraut juice helps. That's pretty much it though. Salt may clean the bacteria out but it's very painful. Just let it do it's job. It's like a cold - You can't cure it, but there's medicine to help the pain.
