BASES do not deploy, Units do. It really doesn't matter. he will go where they have a need for his paygrade and job specialty. If the Med team screens and pronounces him fit to deploy.. he will deploy.

Well noone is safe from being deployed .
lets just say his best bet is to recruit, become an instructor for AIT, not to be mean but that is the best way for him not to be deployed.
We Pcs the end of this week, I am in the Guard my husband Active duty , I have been wanting to change my MOS but I have to wait to see what unit he is going to, the deployment cycle for that post before I can decided when I will leave for AIT , we have 3 children, and a family care plan, but I do not want to be in training "again" and he deploys..
I understand how you feel , but there are no safe MOS' or posts anymore...
Have your husband look into Traddoc.. even if he is personnel he could be inprocessing new Soldiers instead of preparing to deploy again.
Good luck to you !

It really isn't dependant on the Post. In Reality it is his MOS. I have friends at pretty much every post imaginable, in a few branches. Deployment is higher overseas, but stateside, it's pretty even on the numbers right now. Because of his PTSD, more than likely if he is assigned to a deploying unit, they will probably put him with the rear detachment, so that he stays state-side.

I recently left Fort Leavenworth KS, It is a fairly quiet and small post. They rarley deploy from there ( though they sent I think thier first rotation of people over late last year. But its non infantry, close to Kansas City. Its not too bad there, just be careful as in anywhere you live to keep your private life private, because it is small and some people are so bored that they have nothing else better to do then gossip!!! LOL I guess thats life though! Good Luck!

The Pentagon?
Fort Sam Houston, Texas?
Dugway Proving Ground, Utah?
Redstone Army Arsenal, Alabama?
Fort Greely, Alaska?
Fort Gillem, Gerogia? (Until 2011)
Fort McPhearson, Georgia? (Until 2011)
West Point?
Some of those are "armpits of the world" in the middle of no-where but oriented at research or other tasks without real deployable units. Some are training posts (AIT's primarily)
Just a few ideas.

Yeah Fort Stewart is on their 3rd rotation to Iraq, the most so far. Fort Hood and Fort Riley and Fort Drum and Fort Bragg are the other ones that deploy quite a bit. But with the war going on any post can get picked up, sorry to say that.
Maybe they wouldn't deploy him anyway with his PTSD. But that is something you will have to find info on. Sorry to say that with him going active his chances of deploying again are much more higher.
Good luck

His paygrade is E-5. His rank is Sergeant.
Working in personnel, he can be in literally any unit in the Army, and you deploy based on unit, not so much duty station. If he actually gets to pick his base, he should try a training base. They don't deploy training units.

I wouldnt suggest Ft Lewis either. Really though to be truthful it doesnt matter what base he goes to its a matter of his job on if he deploys, not the base. If they need him, regardless of where he goes, he will be deployed. I know of soldiers whos families moved to a new base and a matter of weeks after they go there that soldeir came down on orders to deploy.

Well, stay away from Fort Hood and Fort Bragg. Those guys are always getting deployed. I don't really know, though. Just going on what I hear on the news.
