Both the RAF and the US's Army Air Force participated in that bombing. It was a tactical move to support Soviet forces and disrupt German communications.

OK so there was this little misunderstanding between Germany and the rest of the world.........
allies could only effectively bomb at night from high altitudes Dresden was a major manufacturing hub so they couldn't target the factories so they used incendiaries and created a firestorm if the story of it interests you read slaughter house five

i thought it was mostly the usa. it was to produce terror in the germans, force them to surrender. like hiroshima in japan
