I've hear that the herb, kava-kava is good for anxiety. But I don't know much about it- probably be best to do some research before you try it.

Meditation, yoga, and exercise can also be good for anxiety. They can help you learn and practice the feeling of relaxation.

Some therapists teach cognitive methods of dealing with anxiety, too. I think they involve recognizing anxiety and the thoughts that provoke it, as they're beginning, before they build up. Then you do things to counteract it- like conscious relaxation, taking deep breaths, or substituting more realistic thoughts for the anxiety-provoking ones. Like "Well, if I mess up, I'll be embarrassed, and it'll be uncomfortable, but it won't really hurt me." The idea is to, over time, replace the tendency toward anxiety with a tendency toward relaxation. I bet there are websites and books about this. I read a book called "Feel The Fear, And Do It Anyway," and found it helpful, and a refreshing attitude.

I think trying other things before using drugs is a good idea, and am wishing you the best of luck!

Hey there are some herbal supplements like valerian its a plant that promotes restful sleep and just kinda slows down nervous tendancies....if u go to a vitamin shop there are normally whole sections for anxiety..its very common....but trust me although prescriptions can be addictive in my opinion they work better and faster....try to know your syptoms and controll them...take herbal things then if u still have an attack or feel anxious....split a xanax in half...only take a little at a time....as long as it dosent become habitual....and u are not using it when u dont need it u should be fine :D good luck
