It certainly takes a lot more thinking.

Accepting responsibility for your own morality, fate, world-view, etc.

It would be nice to have everything wrapped in a nice little bundle and be promised eternal glory if I believe and eternal torment if I don't.

I think it makes a nice "boogey-man" story to scare children with, but as far as a functional way of life for an adult to live?

Well ... it's not for me, but if it makes you happy, go for it.

I chose to believe that if I am a good person and treat others well then the world will be a better place. I have no proof of it, but I choose to believe it - I guess that's not any less strange.

I believe that my wife loves me, but how would I prove it? I guess it's faith, and it helps me sleep at night.

Faith can be a useful thing. But at least I don't ram it down other peoples throats. But remember that "faith" is the opposite of "certainty". When you unquestioningly believe and you start trying to force your faith on others, it's not faith anymore. So don't worry, I won't knock on your door and try to sell you crappy magazines to convince you that my wife loves me. ;)

Nah. Christians have to follow all these rules and commandments and whatnot. They also have to spend so much time converting the poor, lost souls in foreign countries and shoving inspirational pamphlets down the throats of atheists. On top of it all, they have to spend a few hours a week in churches, the most boring places on earth with the most uncomfortable seating. And read Bibles. And donate to charities. And other stuff.

Atheists just have to live. :)

Being an atheist is pointless why not go out and jump off a cliff were just particles anyway, I have trouble understanding what meaning you find in life? Is being a atheist a challenge so easy even a "caveman" can do it. Their is nothing to live for or by kind of a fruitless endeavor.

In some ways it is, however, I take solace in the knowledge that I am realistic and able to take life as it comes.

Yes, you get it from everyone, of different religions. It's really bad to be defending your lack of beliefs.

Yes. It's easier to just believe in something blindly.

I don't think so. I think being an atheist is liberating.
