Why not! I joined when I was 16, yes 16 back in 1965, had all the papers signed a few months before I turned 17 and the day I turned 17 my mother went with me to the recruiters office and signed me in an I was on the train the next day to boot camp. Did I regret it; no it straitened my sorry *** out. Vietnam made me an old man at 19 but the one thing I can say and be proud of in my life is I can say I was a Marine. And that saying once a Marine always a Marine grows stronger with time.
Will it be hard, damn right, but that's why Marines are good at what they do. I could go on and on but only the few who are or were know what I’m talking about so wanting to belong to one of the best fighting forces is commendable but its life long, and even after your out and back in the civilian world you'll never be the same, why because you’re a "MARINE".

Well it depends because i dont know if you really know what the marines are about i mean you might b ut who knows i have so many friands that are in the marines and they love it. But then again i have some that hate it. This war is prob gonna be going on forever so your gonna go to iraq.Im in the air force and i havea chance of going to so if ur into the combat scene i think itll be good for you. The marines is a good branch. STERN!

You have a dream to be a HERO....there is nothing weird or wrong with that! And I hope you look beyond your parents accusations. You can always go to school and be an officer if you so choose to continue education past high school. You have an amazing dream...fulfill it.

No I don't think it is strange, however, you better know what you are getting into Before you join! Hell, Iraq will probably still be going on when you turn 18!
