We are rendering aid to those that need it, helping to establish a government and maintain relative in an area that would otherwise plunge into civil war with countless lives lost.
Those of us in the military see more than the one sided news service you receive, we know the cost....do you?

Ok, whomever said there's no oil in Iraq is clearly an imbecile. That is exactly what is a major issue of contention over there, the soldiers are trying to defend the oil fields.
As for why we're there in the first place, oil is a big part of it. There's no debate on that issue. None. But that doesn't mean it's the only reason. 'Freedom' is an absurd notion that nobody with any education honestly believes in because it is not for Americans to determine what 'freedom' equates to being.
Nor is about terrorism. Iraq was not supporting terrorists. Simple fact. Saddam Hussein hated Osama Bin Laden long before Bush did. He could have been used as an ally if we had turned the other way to what he did to his own people, which is by the way, his own people and not our business. Much like Churchill and Roosevelt looked the other way from Stalin's actions to defeat Hitler. Churchill himself said he'd make a deal with the devil if it took that to beat Hitler. Because you see, Churchill was a brilliant leader. Bush is not.
No, the reality is it's more about establishing a pro-American government in a region that is for the most part anti-American. No serious student of history and Middle Eastern culture can seriously believe a democracy is of any worth in the region, it's simply a buffer for Americans against Iran, Syria, Lebanon, and believe it or not, Arabia. Everything in the world exists to support 'America' from most Americans' points of view. Such is what comes from a country like this.

open your eyes, they are only there to;
provide Halliburton (Dick Cheney was CEO) the largest multi-billion dollar no-bid contract in Iraq. What are friends for?
2.Vast oil fields with the US military to obtain and safeguard them for Bush’s corporate junta.
3.Iraq was Israel’s number one threat. Israel also receives 40% of all US aid and the latest military hardware, even though their population is only about 7 million. And to top it off, the most powerful lobbying organization in Washington DC is the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) which has tremendous influence. Chutzpah!
Saddam was about to have sanctions lifted and was planning on selling his oil in Euros ( thereby devastating the US monetary system and flooding the world with oil hurting the oil industry and especially the Bush family's best friends the House of Saud). The invasion was not about getting oil, it was about keeping it off the market. Only an absolute fool would believe Iraq had anything to do with 9/11 or that there were WMD's.
to answer your question,,,OIL, and big money, the rest of the bull is called propaganda

If we were in Iraq for oil then we'd be paying LESS for gasoline. I mean, wouldn't we have just stamped AMOCO signs all over the oil fields and let the rest of the country go to hell?
