I agree. Actually, I think it is "the times" we are in.
Anything that tries to act as a gate-keeper or barrier between us and their divine source is a scam and it outmoded. It is all about control.
More and more people are waking up to this, and casting off the dogmatic junk, and seeking God on their own terms. The programming is losing its grip.
Truth of the matter is, that you have a little spark of God within you, and by looking within and connecting with that, and growing that spark into a mighty connection with your divine source, you become a powerful co-creator.
So-called christians wait for Jesus to return, but some Jewish guy showing up is not really what it is all about... it is about people working from their heart, and embodying the christ energy... christ consciousness. Not a single Jewish dude... all of us together stepping into our divine power.
The catholic church is in its last few years. Their corruption has been making headlines for years. Same with other versions of christianity. The "moral majority" is neither... but instead is a bunch of bullies.

I personally would like to see religion gone from the planet. If you feel you must believe in a creator, become a pantheist and just be a good person. Doing so for a reward in the end instead of your own merits seems shallow somehow.

Logic and reality poses the greatest threat to atheism, as well as to religion. Religion in any form is a sad attempt to escape from the reality of the world around you.
Yes, earth's religions have tragic flaws, thus proving the point that unless you are changed by a RELATIONSHIP with God, and not a series of rules and rituals, you are wasting your time.
Those working so hard to refute, and those who think that they are actually Atheist are sadly out of touch with the reality of the world around them, as well as science and philosophy, just to name a couple.
Atheism is a widely-growing religion whose realm of thought simply turns their view from manifesting a deity to worship, to the worship of self and self-actualization. As the world is learning, self-actualization is the greatest threat to world peace and personal fulfillment.

Call and you will be called, judge and you will be judged
HMM WHO SAID THIS: When will you do what he says!
You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes, nor figs from thistles, are they? Even so, every good tree bears fruit; but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, you will know them by their fruits. (Matthew 7:16-20)
Other areas of interest are: John 15:8, "By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be my disciples." Galatians 5:22-23 tells us that "the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control."
Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. (Matthew 7:15)

The behavior described in this question is entirely unscriptural, and all unscriptural religion is scheduled -by God-- for removal > see Revelation, chapter 17...
