Hi, I think I would rephrase it as:

What symbols, objects, education, external manifestations or possesions show that people in your country belong to certain category or social class.

Meaning what elements prove that such person has certain category or prestige. If its in an organization it would be what lets you know this person is a boss, a directive, a standard worker, a basic worker e.g. cleaner, if it is social then if they are rich, very rich, middle class, poor, intellectual etc. etc.

In some countries like India there are well defined casts wich have their own symbols, like the red dot on the forefront, others like the US is more about what someone has, its wealth and hence a rolls royce or a rolex watch would indicate high status, in other sociaeties maybe it is who has the more servants or more guns or more whatever.

Status means:
a) category
b) social status - social classification
c) situation - in relation for example to development - pregress status

Satus Quo: State of affairs or Oraganizational caregories, system that categorizes or classifies people into different social, prestige, groups i.e. arificial (mand made) categories. Usually it refers to order of things in relation to power and prestige.
Hope it helps

Neither choice that you give, that is "What distinguishes your people from other people? or what are the traditions of your people have anything to do with the status of people. The status of people refers to whether they are natives of the country, that is whether they were born in the country in which they are living or whether they are immigrants to the country in which they are living. In addition, if they are immigrants, the status would refer to whether they are legal or illegal. You are legal if you follow all the proper procedures for becoming a legal immigrant and you are illegal if you either sneak into the country or if you come in under a visitor's or student visa, for example and then do not leave when your visa has expired. I do not recommend in either case that you attempt to become an illegal immigrant. It is far too dangerous.
