Yes, it is. I'm 23 and still in school. I've got 50K in student loans, plus a car payment and other bills. I work full-time and go to school, but I'm still not making enough.

I lived away from home for a year. It was the worse experience of my life. I was working two jobs (one at $12 an hour, the other at $10 an hour) , plus going to school.

I was so broke and tired. I learned that it was more important to go to school, finish my education and secure a good paying full-time job. I plan on staying at home for a year or so, after graduation. I want to save as much money as possible.

Life is too expensive nowadays. It wasn't like when our parents were growing up and gas was 25 cents (if that).

I work as a waitress. The place is full of younger people. They are working two jobs just to pay the rent and living expenses. Some of them went to college. A good majority did not. They are struggling. They work 8-5 at their day jobs, and then 6-12 waiting tables. Plus, weekend shifts.

I don't want to waste my life like that. I think it would be ashame to wake up at 40 and realize I haven't lived, b/c I've been working like a dog since 22. If that means, I'm living at home at 25,. but have 25K saved....ohhh well. I'll be much more ahead of the game that way.

yes Its common

why because of living expenses inflation. Our parents could do more with their money when they were our age doing a low skilled job.
Today inflation and price rises is making it hard to pay for things like rent.
Those who own property want the value to go up those who dont have property find more difficult by the year to pay for propery.
Utility bills are also going up.
Minimum wages cant keep up with the rising cost of living expenses.

Its the fiat money system being abused thats causing this and not anyones fault who live with their parents.

I think it is very common. I think there are parents out there who are supportive of their kids and are willing to allow their kids to live with them but only until the kids can live on their own. There are also parents who are absolutely against it because they feel like they raised you, send you off to college and now it's their turn to relax and your turn to work and support yourself. I think it's unfortunate that some kids take advantage of this situation and live with their parents as long as they can. That is not cool at all. You need to get your own place if you can afford one or if not, you need to be in school or training to get you a good paying job.

Seems like it has become more common these days since more kids have become more dependant and selfreliant on their parents, some live with their parents while they attend college, i think its cool as long as you are doing it for the right reasons and not just being a freeloader

No. i'm going to be 22 next month and nonetheless stay at domicile. I in all probability will until i'm 24 or 25 (when I end college). as long as you help out financially and with chores and are not freeloading, i don't see the priority.

Living at home with your parents at your age isnt uncommon. Many of my friends and myself are still living at home and we are just a bit older than you (between 22 and 25). Its really not a bad thing as whilst living at home its the best time to save money and once your ready you can move out and become independant. Actually one of my friends lived at home until she turned 25 so her partner and her could save for their wedding and their first home.

when i was 22 i was on my own, but at 25 i was back with my parents. I stayed with my dad for 3 years and my mom for 3 years.

They call us boomer-angers. (children of boomers who return home after college, divorce, etc)

I have younger friends who just never bothered to move out also. My husbands friends mostly live at home they're moving into their mid-tweinties.

My daughters have lived with me off and on, depending on what they needed. Right now they are in their own places, but I would always let them come home. My folks threw me out when I was still in high school and I haven't felt comfortable in their home since 1970. I vowed to never make my daughters feel like they had no home to go to.

Probably best not to. It is time to go out and start your own life. I lived with my parents till 21.
