I had braces for a while but i got them off about 2 years ago. I didn't wear my retainer for a while and now my retainer doesn't fit. Is there anything i can do besides having to get new braces to either help the retainer fit or make sure my teeth do not go crooked.

Definitely go back in and consult your orthodontist ASAP. I really doubt they'll put new braces on you if it was just a couple of weeks; your bite probably just shifted a little bit. If the retainer really doesn't fit at all, the most they'll probably do is take another impression and give you a new one.

I had that problem before. When I was younger i actually had braces for nearly 5 years, when I got them off i had a retainer but went on vacation with some friends and forgot my retainer at home. Of course, it didnt fit! So, I actually was lucky and could still wear the retainer, but was in A LOT of pain. If you are able to get the retainer on without breaking it, or with force wear it. You will have to deal with the pain, if you can't get it on or do not want to deal with the pain you should really go to provider of your retainer. You might have to get braces put back on, or they could fit you with the clear braces (which i actually had as a retainer anyway) that could shift your teeth back to where they should be.

Either way, do NOT ignore the issue. You would not want your teeth to go off track because of a mistake of not wearing your retainer!!

Go back to the dentist, and have him refit you for a new one, and don't take it out, if you want straight teeth, then you have to follow the rules.

Try takin pain meds and shoving it as hard as you can. If it works for a brief second, clamp down your teeth and hold as long as it takes. Then wear it for a few days straight.

GO BACK TO YOUR ORTHODONTIST AND HAVE A NEW ONE MADE -- THIS TIME DON'T FORGET TO WEAR IT AND DON'T LOSE IT.
