Leaving it outside on counter, even if well sealed and or wrap is not a good idea. THe outsode layer of ground beef will defrost in a matter of hours, then will start to turn brown. Best way is to defrost in fridge, then pull out hour before cooking time if not fully defrosted

Whoa! NO NO NO no way!!! Once ground beef hits room temperature it doesn't take long at all to start to turn. Leave it out overnight and it will start to spoil before morning. Eat it after it has spoiled and you might get food poisoning. And why would you want to eat spoiled beef anyway? The best thing to do is to move it from your freezer to your fridge the night before and then defrost it under some water or a microwave before you cook it just to be safe.

Ground beef should not smell at all.
Do not use it if it smells. Is it in pound packages or hamburger patties? Frozen hamburger will not unfreeze in the fridge overnight. Possibly if moved to the front of the fridge. Good luck.
It is safer not leaving meat out all night.

No way.
Basically we want to avoid prolonged storage at the temperature range that Bacteria, Yeast and Mould grow at the fastest. This is the 20-45 deg C range.
The normal method is to take out from deep freeze ( -18 deg C) and keep in regular refridgerator ( + 5 deg C) for up to 12 hours.
or better still, defrost in the Microwave just before cooking.

No, you should never let raw meat thaw on the counter. You should thaw it in the refrigerator. When you thaw it on the counter the part that thaws faster (the outside) will get too warm and start to grow bacteria which could make you sick. If you put it in the fridge tonight and make sure you don't put it in a really cold part it should be thawed out by dinner time tomorrow.

Oh sure.. if you have a thing for E coli bacteria.
Kidding :)
Leave it wrapped in the original plastic, and put it in the fridge. It should be defrosted enough by the next day to use, and you lessen the risk of spoiling the meat, or incurring some sort of bacterialogical infection.

NO, bacteria can actually survive in the freezer, in a dormant state. When you warm them up enough, they spring back into action and do bad things to your meat. You probably won't get sick, but there's always the chance you will when you give them a chance. Either defrost it tomorrow in the microwave or put it in the fridge overnight.

Sheesh. Yes, leave it out overnight, put it in the fridge in the morning, cook it anytime tomorrow. Don't worry! The worriers will die WAY SOONER than the people who occasionally take a chance and go against the PC way of handling their food.

No, this will lower the temperature too much. The most safe way to defrost food is to leave it in your refridgerator to slowly defrost or to run it under cold/cool water NOT warm water.

No-thaw in refrigerator. If it's not thawed enough when you're ready to use it, place in a ziploc bag and submerge in tepid water OR (faster) place it in the heaviest metal pan you have (metal conducts heat quickly).
