It isn't immediately life threatening, but it would be a good idea to not smoke before the surgery (as long as possible). If you're really concerned ask your dentist/ oral surgeon for a list of drugs and medications that will react with your anesthesia. If they ask about your drug usage answer honestly. You have doctor-patient confidentiality rights and they aren't legally allowed to report you. If they ask it, it matters.

I wouldn't think so. The only proven effects of marijuana that I am aware of that would be considered harmful are slowed reaction time, reality perception, and sometimes short term memory loss at the time of use. None of those would be relevant when sedated.

Seriously, what does it hurt for you to wait until afterward?
I don't think it would have any interaction with local anesthetic, but it's pointless to smoke before.

do u know how bad that stuff is 4 yor lungs? i mean the smoke pot. im gettin 2 of mine cut out in 3 wks and im goin with nutrious and iv sedetation.

yes.... and inform your dentist or surgeon.
it can cause some serious drug interactions with the drugs they will use to sedate you.
some drugs can keep the sedatives or narcotics to not work, putting you and the surgeon at risk.
