I’m sixteen now,
And thought you’d be proud,
But it seems somehow,
That you’re not around,
But I’ve still chosen you as one who taught me,
That forgiveness isn’t easy,
But it can be done,
Especially for the ones you love.

You broke my heart,
Ripped it to shreds,
But when someone you love turns their back on you,
Someone you looked up to,
Someone you thought the world of,
Crushes you,
If you love them enough you can forgive,
And move on because life is too short to dwell or pity,
You’ve shown me this,
But not by example…

I’ve learned from your mistakes,
And now I’m wondering how long it will take for you to discover,
That missing piece inside that you can’t seem to find,
So you can find happiness and forgiveness in yourself,
This is a thank you,
For helping me realize that life is too short to hold grudges,
And that you have to grab every minute of it and run with it,
And that family is forever,
And ever,
And ever,
And ever…
