you are allowed reasonable amounts on reutrn. but why not ask customs when you leave. also the airline will issue you a customs delcaration on the return trip.

Yup they fined a guy in New Jersey for all of the lost tax revenue for the past 2 years. It was several thousand dollars. He lost the case and had to pay up. Do a google search if you doubt me.
