Why do many of you non believers need scientific proof to believe in something. All of u say you don't believe in God because u need proof. The only proof is the bible and to believe the bible you need faith. The reason their is no scientific proof is because God wants you to have faith in him. Ever heard of it. Have trust and faith so u can build a relationship with him. And believe me once you have the faith, it's so obvious that he is there with u every step of the way. You can see him in all creation and feel him everywhere. But you need a little faith. I mean all your beliefs are based on faith 2, none of the evidence u say u have is proven fact. It all has loopholes so you just have faith that ur evidence is true. We have faith that the bible ( our evidence ) is true except ours dosnt have loopholes. And God gives you joy and happiness, ur beliefs dont give you that feeling and if they do they wont last. So why do u say u need scientific proof to believe in something?

"And God gives you joy and happiness, ur beliefs dont give you that feeling and if they do they wont last".

Pretending to believe in gods makes me feel foolish and dishonest. Sorry.

Didn't it ever occur to you that others might not have the same interests that you do?

I don't need it, but proof is proof and who am I to deny a fact? But when people deny scientific fact, it's pretty annoying...like right now. I don't attack another's belief unless they go after mine and try to shove their religion down my throat--so here it goes:

Can you prove something you believe without using the Bible? And yes, yours does have many, many loopholes...science fills in its loopholes with fact very day. Each day my science has one less loophole, and your Bible one more. Naming all the Bible's loopholes exhausts me, so today I won't even try. You get the point, and I'm sure someone else on here will name them.

I do have joy and happiness without the Bible. My beliefs do bring me happiness at being enlightened and not led like a lamb to slaughter--ignorant and blind as a cleaver swings down. What makes you think that an Atheist isn't happy, except that people like yourself attack us every day and shove your ideas at us? If anything we're happier without a threat of Hell until someone throws their book at us. Then of course we get annoyed and unhappy--I don't show up on your doorstep preaching and neither should you show up on mine.

Believe what you want to believe, but take into consideration othere believe differently and a simple book is not in any way, shape or form, proof that something is true. I'm sorry that I had to be a bit harsh, but you spurred it.

Peace

There is no such thing as *scientific proof*

Science deals in evidence. Evidence is so much easier to get then proof.

When there is no evidence, the negative position is logical. You have never found evidence to believe in purple unicorns, so you don't believe in them. You would find someone with "faith" in the existence of purple unicorns to be unreasonable and illogical.

You say the Bible is proof, well, the Bible is something that we can test the veracity of. Guess what? It fails a veracity test. The Bible is so full of historical inaccuracies and contradictions, that to trust it as evidence for god is silly.

There is no EVIDENCE for god. And evidence is so much easier to find than proof.

4 More Beers is correct. Science, *if you are careful*, provides information on things which can be ascertained for ourselves. *Everyone* wants us to believe in their particular religion. Why should someone who is interested accept only Christianity? It is, as you rightly said, only by faith that Christianity can be accepted. However, faith in Christianity, or in any other religion, cannot be forced and should not be expected. I consider it a miracle in itself that I became Christian.

"none of the evidence u say u have is proven fact. It all has loopholes so you just have faith that ur evidence is true."

Please describe the loopholes in the following:
1) gravity
2) 2+2=4

When you have faith in something, you will not or cannot see the problems with it. Faith blinds you.

Faith is the belief without evidence. You are simply using semantics to play with words and their meanings. If you have faith (belief without evidence) in your bible, how can your bible then be any evidence? It is too circular to be rational.

Objective truth is truth for all to see. Subjective truth (based on faith) may blind you to the objective truth.

To think clearly, start at the beginning, and do not accept assumed postulates. Once you do this, you will see that all is based on false premises. Do not accept anything on faith. Always ask for evidence, the objective, verifiable, validatable evidence.

in my human relationships, i generally have some sort of indication that the person i have faith and trust in actually exists. so i would argue that some sort of indication should come first - not necessarily proof, but i am skeptical and i haven't experienced anything remotely close to what i'm talking about. as i see it, many people have imaginary friends that they all choose to call god, which may indicate that they have active imaginations (gee, maybe they all read the same book as a child...) and no more than that.

Hebrews 11:1
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

The evidnece for God is experiential... you have to seek Him to know Him. God promises that if you seek Him with all your heart, He will be found by you.

For everyone else, the hard evidence is forthcoming but once you get it, it'll be too late.

Repent, place your absolute faith and trust in Jesus Christ, and you'll be saved. Then you will *know* God is real in this life. Otherwise, He'll prove His reality to you after death.

Fine so why not believe in Zeus, or anything for that matter?

Saying a Christian is happier than a non-Christian is like saying a drunk is happier than a sober man.
