I also have thick hair. My stylist does long layers on me and she cuts the front to an angle like going toward my cheeks. Hope this helped and good luck.

My hair is a little below my shoulders and it is very thick, when I get my hair done I always get long layers it looks really good on people with thick hair because if you get short layers then it will poof out and it will more then likely not be what you want..... I always try to take a pic with me also so my sylist knows exactlly what I want. Even though she knows me very well it is always a good idea to have something to show what you want........ good luck

I have been a hairdresser for years. I would definitely have an idea and a picture before I step in the hair salon if I were you. Your idea of a trim and highlight might not be what your hairdresser had in mind. To save money and tears, please be prepared and know what you eventually want your hair to look like before you walk in blind.

i would say layers, but make sure the person knows what you want, cuz i got my hair cut and i just wanted a trim and layers, and she chopped off five inches of length. i was so pissed.

You should get it layered. It always looks good!
