The reason I ask is because I personally can't take the Bible word for word and say that it was written by God and is the facts of life. I think Christianity is also about using your heart and conscious to decide on issues.

An example:

"If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."
Leviticus 20:13

I am not gay, and if people don't think it's right then it is their choice, but how can you think that God wants you to go around killing homosexuals? It just doesn't make any sense.

And if you truly do believe that the Bible is God's unaltered word and the pure truths of life, then I guess you have a lot of people to kill.

Is that what you think God wants?

Sure. Try the Unitarian Universalists, the Episcopal Church, Unity and many other denominations that don't demand that their parishioners subscribe to Biblical literalism. They're out there.

Christ forgives all sins if we go to Him, repent and sin no more.
Leviticus is in the Old Testament, a chapter of the Torah. Stoning was the usual punishment described by Law for cases in which death was inflicted as punishment. Think about your assumption...does God say we should kill murderers? I think He gave us his Son so that we could have a way out of our sins. He knows our hearts. We ourselves cannot take the bible word for word. Churches can help us learn the Word and what it means in our life. Some gay people think that being gay is not a choice, and gays go to church and receive communinion. Answers are not simple. find out what God means to YOU, with your churches help. Leave the rest to God.

You are asking about church denominations. Christianity is simply the belief in Jesus Christ... who he is and what He has done. There are many churches that claim they are Christian. I'm sure you will find one.

Christianity is about using your heart and conscience to decide on issues. It is also about aligning those with God's will.... to do what is right.

Let's use your example - As a Christian, you are under a new covenant with God and not bound by the old Mosaic covenant. We do not, and God does not want for us to kill homosexuals. We are bound by the new testament, but these do not do away with God's law and His revealed will. According to Romans 1:26-28, and 32 it is still against His ordinance, worthy of death, and they will receive the due penalty of their error. We warn them about this out of our love for them, not from judgement or self righteousness.

The Bible is His inspired Word and does hold the truths of life. It is a Spiritual book, which God's Holy Spirit uses to teach, guide and inspire Christians to do His will. If you are a brother, you will find that Christianity is not about living a "religious" life, but a Spiritual one in relationship with Him.

Yes, there are any number of mainstream Protestant churches that are considered "liberal" and Christian. You might explore the Episcopal, Presybterian, Methodist, United Church of Christ and Unitarian Universalist churches...and there are others.

There are even some liberal Catholic communities out there, too.

As for me, I don't know why some people put homosexuality above any other "sin." To me it is worse to see straight people who are being "mack daddies" and "hoochie mamas" than to have a gay committed couple who is hurting no one with gameplaying. Besides, the point of being a Christian is that you believe that Jesus Christ came into the world, died on the cross, rose from the dead and is your savior, right? It doesn't say only if you are straight.

I believe God gave us a brain to use, as well as free will...and he gave us tradition, Scripture and reason to try to figure it out ourselves instead of being lead like sheep by those who may have a hidden agenda.

My friend Leviticus 20:13 was under the old law. Today we are under a new! We are taken care of by the blood of the Lamb: Jesus Christ! No longer is anyone put to physical death because of their sins. They will on the other hand die spriritually if they don't except Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord of their lives. You have to read the bible right. The old testament is for us to read and learn, but the new testament gives us a way of escape from what we deserve. We all deserve death because of our sins, but Jesus died for us on the cross.

between the newer tries became the "fairness doctrine" which might have compelled radio stations to air replace viewpoints. Christian radio stations, confronted with the possibility of having to air anti-Christian messages, would have close down instead of adjust to the regulation. In a worldwide the place Muslims are directly murdering harmless people, Christians are nevertheless being villified via the left, curiously because of the fact of our stances on abortion and homosexuality. (Which, by the way, are a similar because of the fact the Muslim stances on those self same 2 subjects, different than that Muslims would execute each and all of the homosexuals.)

I think you have maybe contridicted yourself. Because if you (quote) "take the Bible word for word and say that it was written by God and is the facts of life", then it would seem to me you have some killing to do---if you truly believe as you say you do, that is----Peace and Blessings!--add on : I'm sorry, I think I misread your question---apologizes!

If you mean by "liberal Christianity" the practice of either ignoring the scriptures altogether, or interpreting them to mean whatever you want them to mean to justify ungodly behavior, then you can probably find a congregation somewhere that teaches such stuff. However, you will discover--sooner or later--that God really is smarter than we are and He has sound reasons for His commandments. We ignore them at our peril. God was so interested in protecting ancient Israel from catastrophically bad decisions that He provided them what some of us today consider to be really draconian laws, such as Lev 20:13. But all of us will learn, sooner or later that there are two kinds of "death:" physical and spiritual. Those who flagrantly violate God's laws today kill themselves spiritually as surely as a bullet in the head. The really good news is that today there's a way out: the Atonement of Christ can remove the effects of sin and degradation from our lives, but only if we will permit it to be so. In the end, all of us will be resurrected and have an eternal physical body, but only those who repent of their sins and accept baptism and do their best to live as Christ would have them live, will be able to overcome the sins of this life.

those churches are out there, but I wouldn't consider true Christian churches. It also depends on where you live somewhat, I live in a kind of a rural area in the south and there are none to be found here.

Hi there, I'm not a United church goer myself, but I think you will enjoy www.wondercafe.ca/com (can't remember if ca or com).... I like their approach, open minded, accepting and inclusive. If I could get it together to go to church I think I'd go to a united church. Maybe when cycling season is over and before snowboarding season starts.... ;)
