I mean its not like anyone can just go over to the other side and then come back to tell us weither there is one or not. You can't prove he exists, but you can't prove he doesn't exist either.

I do not believe in God. I have never said that I can prove with 100% certainty that God doesn't exist. And to be honest Christians can not prove with 100% accuracy that he does exist. They may say I know He exists, because Has has touched my life. Many Hindus and Pagans can say the same thing about their gods, it only proves their faith not the existence of gods.
You can not prove that Buddha, the Hindu Deities and thousands of other gods don't exist. Does this mean you believe in them?

You are correct in claiming that there is no way to prove or disprove the existence of god. But it provably follows from this that any theory of god is necessarily useless -- it can predict nothing. And why believe in something when it is totally useless to do so? Even though the matter can't be proved, there is nevertheless a considerable body of evidence on the subject, ALL of which implies the negative. See:

I'm atheist/agnostic, and I go by atheist for short.

I don't think there is a god, but I wouldn't bet my life on it. I can't prove it and see the futility in trying to prove or disprove god.

My reasons for thinking there is no god is that if no one had ever written the bible or told me about god, then I never would have even though about god existing or not existing...he just wouldn't have existed.

Put it this way, for all his supposed omniscience, he has not made his presence known. If he were real, I think he would have. What is the point of having an all-powerful god if he does nothing and still expects people to just have faith for no reason? It doesn't make sense to me. I have to believe in something that makes sense. I have to have some kind of proof. All other supernatural beings are imaginary, what makes God any different?

Atheists should not have to disprove existence. Those who believe have the obligation to provide good reasons to believe God exists. We accept something exists because there is a universal standard by which we all accept or deny something's existence. However, when it comes to God, those who believe don't have to apply this same universal standard. Why is this?

Exactly. We're at an eternal impasse, if you want to talk about actually proving the existence (or nonexistence) of God.

But, it is possible to some to disprove the bible, and perhaps prove other things; evolution, for example.

Peace.

How is "You cant prove it doesn't exist" and argument?
Its basically admitting to failure to prove he does.

If I were to say, "There is such thing as an elephant with a bazooka for a nose and he only eats nuclear bombs!", I would look like a complete idiot.

Christians should be regarded as such when they make ridiculous claims aswell.

the same way most people run their life: the balance of probability. i mean, you would not expect to be killed by a sperm whale falling from the sky, so therefore you don't life your life in fear of that happening. and if you say that is an impossible event, can you prove that it will not occur? i'll admit that it is an infinitesimal probability, but then again so is the supernatural, so why worry about it.

The same way people speak of God as though he does exist. People tend to speak their beliefs as truth because that's what they believe it to be. I say God exists cuz that is what I believe, atheists say God doesn't exist cuz they don't believe.
