Also, if I entered BUDs and recieved a commission as an enlisted would I be able to go to OTS right away? Or would one spend an amount of time in the teams first.

in the Navy it is OCS, not OTS. 13 weeks of being yelled at by Marine DIs in Smokey Bear hats.

most OCS types are not prior enlisted, they are coming straight formthe civilian world.

Enlisted personnel have several paths to Commission: Warrant Officers must be at least an E7(which can take ten years or more). Limited Duty Officers must be an E6 and Chief's Board Eligible(again anywhere from 6-8 years on average). Currently, no 4 year degree is required ,although it does give you a leg up and will definitely be needed if yoiu want to get past O3.

If you do not already have a 4 yr degree, you can enlist and apply to STA-21, a program where you go to college full time(with ROTC) on the Navy's dime . you must get a 4 year degree in 3 years, however. most people are not picked up their first year, and must repeatedly apply, average is around 3-4 years. obviously, the more college credits you have, the bettre chance you have of being picked up.

if you already have a 4 year degree, you can apply directly to OCS as a civilian or, enlist and apply from within. no special breaks are given to enlisted personnel, however. Took my husband 4 years to the day from reporting to Great Lakes to report to OCS in Pensacola.

Enlisted personnel get unlimited chances at BUD/s. Officers: ONE shot ONLY. DH's OCS class had three prior enlisted SEALS who were going back to the Teams after OCS.

If you have a Bachelors, you can go straight to OTS, OCS without being enlisted. You will learn military discipline. Most branches have 12 weeks broken in two areas. The first 6 weeks, learning the basics (wearing the uniform, inspections, marching, military customs and courtesies), the last 6 weeks you take on the role of leader, leading new candidates who are in their first 6 weeks. Good luck, it's a great life!

Officer cannidate school is for enlisted people who want to become officers. I'd suggest contacting a military college if you want real information. Recruiting web sites are only going to tell you what you want to hear.

OTS - this is now known as OCS, Officer Candidate college, is for those workers already possessing a bachelor's degree who're seekng a value as an officer. hardship-loose guidance is the get admission to-point guidance for people who've enlisted interior the militia.
