Last month I joined the Navy with the rating of IT. I was told that because the position requires a top secret security clearance I may be given a polygraph test. I was completely truthful about everything except my past drug use. Up until a couple months ago I frequently smoked pot. I was never caught by the police, school, sent to rehab or any other situation which would show up on my record. I have also passed all drug tests given to me and will remain drug free for the remainder of my enlistment. The only reason I did not mention my old habit was because I was told by my recruiter not to. Are there any active or former sailors who could tell me what the likely hood is that I am actually given a polygraph? If I am, what type of questions will come up?

With some police departments and fire department and also government jobs (CIA, FBI etc) you will have to take one.
I am in the Army reserves and when I was deployed I too had to get secret clearance. But I didn't have to take the polygraph. Honestly that's alot of polygraphing to do. But like I said I'm in the Amry, the Navy does things alittle different.
Talk to some prior service guys. I have friends in all branches and trust alot of them do some and have clearance. In the end I'm sure you will be fine and won't get polygraphed. As they might just be using it as another scare tactic.
Also you might what to go punch your recuriter in the face because they are NOT suppose to tell you to lie. They can get into big trouble for doing so.
But good luck my friend. Oh and a word of advice when you are at different ports around the world and see those lovely ladies.....ALWAYS WHERE PROTECTION!!!!

Top Secret Clearance Polygraph

When you submit for a TS you are authorizing the authorities *Air Force, Personnel Management, NSA, whoever* to issue a polygraph test at any time during possession of your clearance. There doesn't have to be a specific reason or incidence. They can randomly pop up and ask you things like *Have you ever disclosed classified information to a family member?* Just because they are authorized to does not mean they will. In fact, most of the time they will not. You will most likely never hear of anyone being polygraphed. But they still can be. There are false positives and negatives on the polygraph. The polygraph isn't admissible evidence in a Civilian court for those reasons of unreliability. There is no reason to worry. It mainly acts as a backup to see if you have any interesting responses. Like *Have you ever participated in a group dedicated to violently overthrowing the current US government?* If you answer no and it thinks you are lying. You will be investigated. Things like *Have you ever thought about killing someone* and you say No, but it pops yes. That probably won't trigger an investigation.

If you really have been clean for awhile you will likely pass it.
They will ask you if you have done drugs. Just be honest. Say "I did them in my past and I regret it". If they press this allow them to take a hair sample to prove your innocence.
If you are innocent you have a right to demand that they do ALL the tests necessary and not just on the polygraph.
Lying is probably the worst thing you can do. Say yes. The polygraph tester will ask if you did other things in the past 3 months.. ect.. If you are caught lying they will throw you out.

I had a top security clearance. I was honest. I passed and got thru it.

The next time you have a security interview (and you will have another one) tell them about your past drug use. It won't disqualify you, as they seek honesty. I knew a guy at AIT (the Army's version of A School) because he lied about his. They'll go deeper than you think during your investigation, and they'll probably find out.

If you should have a polygraph, they only ask about your dealings with national security. They can't ask you lifestyle questions while you're in the military.

Had to get a TS/SCI and never did a polygraph, it's possible though, just never heard of one being administered for a clearance.

I will try to keep it simple. Your metabolism is basically the rate at which your body burns calories to create energy. So the faster your metabolism, the faster you burn calories and the easier it is to lose unwanted weight. To boost your metabolism naturally you just need to eat the right foods.

You can sit down and literally eat a 1,000-calorie dinner and yet be absolutely starving just a few hours later and the reason is simple: Because your body didnt get what it needed in those 1,000 calories so it sends signals to your brain telling you to ingest more calories and thus, the late-night cravings. That means that the surest way to end those late-night cravings and keep your weight loss goals on track is to eat a more balanced, nutritious diet that actually gives your body what it needs.

It's VERY EASY to lose weight if you eat the right foods. Check out this video here: http://www.sexyjese.com - it will blow your mind.

OOooooo. Not good. If they suspect you are lying, they have do a hair strand test, or other test that can show them what you've been doing MONTHS ago. Lying is lying, and they will catch you. If you'd lie to them, they will wonder about your loyalty and your character.

I was working for a police department and I was given one. Here are some of the questions:

*Have you done illegal drugs in the past 5 years?
*Have you ever gotten away with a major crime?
*Have you ever stolen anything?
*Have you ever done anything sexually that you are ashamed of?

Good luck!
